Not antique... but how good are Mahindra tractors

Our local Case dealer is now selling Mahindra tractors, the research I did tells me they are/were made in India. They are now built in the States, and they were in partnership with IH and have some IH engineering in them and are supposed to be a well built rig. I was wondering what any of you guys heard about these tractors, good bad or otherwise. thanks Dan

i bought a '02 Mahindra 6000 in spring of '07 with 185 hours on it...it has close to 1500 hours on it now and the only problem i had was finding the extra fuel filter hidden in the sediment bowl...tractor has been bullet proof otherwise...i'm not sure about being built here now but the largest dealer in the US is in San Antone...i ordered quite a few fuel filters from them before i discovered the extra filter...overnite delivery at no extra charge.
google Bills Tractor.

neighbor of mine worked oil patch for close to 40 years...company he worked for ran Mahindra tractors and they had very little trouble with them.
i wouldnt hesitate to buy another one if in need...only thing i dont like is mine doesnt have a shuttle shift and i use tractor for loading material quite abit.

Mahindra built (IH designed) tractors under licensure of IH nearly 50 years ago. The "IH link" has faded into history. They have an ASSEMBLY plant in the US now. Most of their product being sold in the US is built in Japan and South Korea (in some cases by the same cast of characters who build other brands of import compacts) . Not a bad tractor from what I see, but in many areas, there is little to no dealer support. Such is the case where I live.

thanks for the replies, I was looking at a 4510 with cab, and loader with shuttle. They seem to have heavy castings, and a lot of iron in them. Maybe I will look a little closer. Thanks again, Dan

IIRC, Mahindra was still building the '70s style IH utility tractors (i.e. 574, 674) into the 1990's, maybe later. Looked like the british versions with the headlights low in the grille. Just no IH logos anywhere.

Are they the ones supposed to bring in a small
diesel pickup truck, Ford Ranger or Chev S10,
size, pretty soon.?

An independent farm equipment dealer near here took on Mahindra a few years ago and now they are all over the place and seem to hold up just fine. Paul

I am astounded a tractor thread with a name like that even exists here what with all the pro us sentiment.

So far so good.

thats what sold me on the one i bought...looked at new ford's and deere's and they were all PLASTIC...the Mahindra outweighed the domestics in same class by a couple thousand pounds...also they use old technology like straight cut gears...a lil noisier than angle cut,but stronger.

Mahindra has been promising their small diesel truck for several years now and still nothing. I keep hoping one of the makers will sell a small truck again, but no one has. the only problems I see with the Mahindra truck (other than the funny name) are no standard shift and no extended cab.
