Rant - Frontier telephone service.

Got a call on my cell phone from my daughter - she never calls me on the cell. Always on home phone. Said phone continues to ring, no one answers, answering machine doesn't ether. So I start checking for phones throughout the house - all not working. Check at the junction box on the outside. No signal on their line, either. So I get on cell phone, call Frontier. Get chased all around the block by their answering system. Never did get to talk to a person. COMPUTER TELLS ME THAT THEY WILL HAVE REPAIR DONE BY WEDNESDAY.

Get on the internet. Took me 15minutes rattling around their website trying to find a place where I can report outage. Finally find one, they want far more personal data about me than I wanted to give. Ten minutes later I finally submit report. NO WEDNESDAY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, HOW ABOUT MONDAY MORNING?

NOT IMPRESSED - THEY TOOK OVER FROM VERIZON A FEW MONTHS BACK, KNEW IT WOULD ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME!

Had the same problem with Frontier during our recent ice storm. Same old crap, 1/2 hour on the phone to find a human voice who checked my line and told me it was their problem. Must be that Wednesday is their day to fix things, he told me it would be repaired by Monday evening. Finally by Thursday it was fixed. I'm not very impressed!

Remember, when a BIG outfit takes over a local outfit and RUINS customer service it's called "PROGRESS", apparently a VERY important thing for the future of our once-great country!

I had the same mess with Frontier, plus I could not understand them. I checked my bill and it listed a number for them for hearing impaired or handicapped. I called this number and got a human that helped me right away.

Same problem here. Fought them for months. Totally dropped phone sevice, just using cells now. There was a teething period but we have everything worked out now.

Frontier. Buddy down the road calls me - sometimes it tells him my number has been disconnected; maybe tells him that 4-5 times in row. Later it goes right thru. Call my kid, a local number, sometimes goes thru, sometimes tells me its long distance, I have to use the long distance carrier! Face it; we're a third world country again. Been set back 200 yrs.

When you get the next call to sell you more services rather than just saying no get the persons number. Call that number and have then transfer you to a person that can help.

I have had frontier at the factory since they bough out Camden phone company close to 30 years ago. Up until they really went big time I could get service people that I knew from childhood. They have all retired and it sure aint the same. They bought out Verizon here at the house and I signed up for the INTERNET. The fellow that installed it had one day of INTERNET computer instructions and was sent out to install with help numbers. Poor fellow was here for hours.

You can still get a person to talk to if you game the system.

Had a problem with my moms phone in Jan. so I call them and they say it will be fixed by wed. Well wed. came and went and it was not fixed so I call again and they tell me it was repaired tues. at such and such time and the problem was at the box at the end of the driveway . We had a fresh snow on and could tell there had been nobody even pulled in the drive let alone walking around looking for problems and when I told them that seems they did nt here me . To talk to a person everytime the computer ask you a question say agent and you will be hooked up with some gal in India that just learned english last week !!

Fontier recently took over our Verizon service. A couple of months later I get a call from a gal wanting to sell me more services. I asked her if her recorder was on. When she said it was I told her to play it for her supervisor and began my rant. After I had finished about the poor service and quality of their equipment she apologized for the problems and promised that no one would call agsin.

I have run into the same #@&% with AT&T. I deduct the days without service when I pay the bill and send them a note why. I have received addional free service a couple a times as a result. Doesn't make the situation any better but at least its a little constillation.

Awe life on the Frontier!
Frontier didn't 'take over' from Verizon. Verizon dumped their landline service.
Southwestern Bell has the same type runaround to get a trouble ticket written. In my case they made a big mistake.
To promote better service the repairman left me his card and HIS SUPERVISOR'S card. The next time I had a trouble it was intermittent during rain or high moisture conditions. I knew a three-day wait would only result in a 'Can't duplicate or came clear while testing' so I called the supervisor and explained the trouble. He had a man at the house in an hour and he spent the morning running down the problem to a wet splice.
The end result was over the next few weeks they replaced a complete riser and repaired two splices in the overhead cable.
The old wire is expensive and doesn't return the revenue that the Cel. Business does. I think we’re going to see most of the companies dumping the landline service.

We had an AT&T land line and after it going out several times, them taking forever to fix it, us paying $25 a month for just my dad to call me on it, we got rid of it and just use cells now...so much better.

Umm Verizon was the big outfit and they sold their landline business in most states to Frontier.

Must be local. Ours is working down here.
Wait til they start billing you for something you didn't ask for month after month after month.......

There it is in a nutshell...

These phone companies are losing their behinds on landline service. Between the reduced usage due to cellular, and the aging infrastructure (i.e. old lines and switches), it's becoming a losing proposition. Especially on rural runs where there are miles and miles of wire to service a handful of customers.

Can't raise prices because then they'll be even less competitive with cellular than they already are. Many landline customers will jump to cell, or simply dump the redundant landline.

Only option is to do more with less to remain profitable. They HAVE to remain profitable. You do NOT want a phone system operated by the Federal Government, and that's the alternative.
