Went and saw the ole Possum tonight, well, I guess it was last night now. Always wanted to but never did til now. He did pretty good for pushin 80?. He was a bit hoarse and doesn't quite have all that cool voice range but it was still fun. I was kind surprised that he did a lot of less common songs in full but rolled most of his hits into a medley. I wonder why? Of course he ended with his classic "He stopped loving her..." I'm a classic country music guy and now I can cross this one off my "bucket list".

We saw George & Tammy some years ago at Oakdale in Ct. Tammy Wynette had the purest country voice I ever listened to. I do miss her music. Time just keeps going by all of us.

Saw old George last summer at a concert. He was so horse then that he couldn't hardly talk or carry a note. I have been to 3 other of his concerts and they were all good but this one was kinda sad. A lot of younger folks there that probably went away with a sour feeling about a legend.

Gene Watson can still belt 'em out just like he used to. I'm sure his voice has changed a little with age as well...but not much.

Ya had me worried there for a minute--
I was thinkin he died,
but then remembered Johnny Cash is who I was thinkin of.

He's one of my favs also. When he sings "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes", brings a tear. Makes ya wonder who's gonna fill HIS shoes? Don't think it can be done. Saw him here at the casino a few yrs ago. " LEGEND" doesn't do him justice. George Strait is the only one that even comes close. Possibly Randy Travis.

I got to see Tex Ritter at the local race track just shortly before he passsed away. Didn't know at the time just how significant and once in a lifetime chance that was.

Saw Merle Haggard a couple years ago at the little venue we have here locally- outside, maybe 300 seats. He put on a pretty good show.

My son is asst. editor of the local daily paper, he asked Merle's manager if he could interview him afterwards. "Sure". Merle went out during the last song, band kept playing, everyone expected Merle to come back out and do an encore- instead, we hear the bus start up, and roar out of there. Son and I looked at each other and just laughed.
