perkins engine

I have a Massey 510 combine going to the scrap yard. It has a perkins diesel engine. Is it worth reselling the engine and is there a market? It ran good three years ago. Thanks

They are a good engine to mount on a skid and use for drive a generator or water pump in the oil fields. I bought one 30 years ago and never used it. Might be a job getting it going.

A6.354? Best part of that combine actually.many dealers over here were reluctant to take one of those combines in as part exchange deal because they knew they would probably never sell it again.

I am located in southern Illinois. The combine is not a hydro. All of the tin was rusted out when I bought it, then we ran it in a combine demolition derby. Any interest in it let me know.

Yes save the engine they are popular, fits oliver 1850 and 2-85 and 2-105.While you are at it save the power steering unit too they work great in oliver tractors too.

I saw one put into a 560IH which made a tractor out of it! It fit in realy nice and the 354 is many times better than the 282 boat anchor! We had 2 510's, easy on fuel and good cold weather starters.

Yes,by all means keep the engine and sell it seperate. One other thing,save the steering hydra motor out of it. They're getting to be a popular item. Those units were used in some tractors that are in need of them these days.

I have a 510 hydro, that's why I asked.. I bought it rusty, beat up, and blown up..

2011 will be the 5th year it's been derbied.. I know derbying em makes some guys mad.. Anyhow, a couple years ago I broke the charge pump and paid some good money for it, just thought I'd get yours, if it had one.

I also derbied a 750 and 760.. I was able to sell they steering motor, hyd pump a lot of pullies and sprockets were robbed off to by a local "collector" that tinkers with a lot of stuff.

I'll have to look and see if I need anything else later today.

I think the instrument cluster in that combine is the same as in my Moline tractor- a plastic rectangle with all the guages inside. Mine is shot, yours may be OK because it probably was shielded from sun and rain.

Please take a pic of it and email it to mmittge at compprime dot com, and also measure it. If its the right one, its worth 30 bucks to me.
