O/T ...Well Crude Oil is Down..whats the problem??

Crude Oil is down across the board right now, There were a few guys defending the Big Oil Companies a few posts back. My question is why isnt the price going down at the pump as fast as they raised it up???

Answer...because they are theives..!!!
 
To be fair, ONE day of down oil prices isn't going to affect pump prices, especially if the price shoots right back up tomorrow.

Oil needs to go down and stay down for a few days before the supply of cheaper gas reaches the pumps. The stuff in the tanks at the station was bought and paid before today, when prices were high, and they can't sell it at a loss.

Of course you're right, it seems like it takes longer for it to go down than up, but that could be perception...
 
The problem isn't so much that the price of oil has risen. The problem is our dollar isn't worth as much as it once was. This is what happens when you print $4 trillion dollars in 2 years.
 
They sre speculating.Oil bought today wouldn't see the gas station for 3 months.Just a scam to make additional money on the product they are selling now.

The companies price their product the same as most other busnises, price as much as the market will stand.
 
Well, let's look at from a farmer's point of view. If corn goes up or down on a daily trade at Chicago, does the grocer run over to the canned corn and adjust the price? Why do so many people think the oil companies control the price of oil when it's just like any other traded commodity? Traders think a commodity is in short supply and high demand so they buy it up. Are the copper miners responsible for wire prices being as high as they are? Do the timber cutters get cused for the prices of 2x4s and plywood? When you go in to buy new Wranglers and the price is up from the last time, are you going to blame the cottom farmer? Same way with corn, beef, hogs, rice, sugar etc. Corn and beef are at or nearly at record highs. Where is the crime there? Did the farmer cause this to happen? He's just the one that planted the corn, raised, harvested and sold it for the posted market value. Same thing with oil. You don't see anyone screaming at farmers for causing food prices to be at record highs. Everything is going up this year. We all need to ready.

No he doesn't, but the oil producer raises his and the price of the grocers corn.

I guess because they're lying lowlifes like the cigarette manufactures. You don't think a lot of their sh@t isn't contrived to raise prices artificially and that they pull the strings of the commodity traders?

Oil is probably the reason for the rise in price of all of these. And most of these products I can decide to buy or not thus controlling the price while I have to buy gas.
 
COME ON!
You have to put the right word to what's going on--Raise the price as fast as crude goes up and be very slow to lower the price. OH and we forget the price of crude is up because Libey MIGHT cause an oil shortage.

Becaue the price is down a whopping 37 cents today. WOW,Big deal. It's still trading over $100. That 37 cents computes to one cent on gas. Whooptydamdoo.

Don't go appealing to someone's common sense on such an emotional topic :) It won't do any good anyway. Shoot, those oil companies didn't know they were greedy, they thought they were just capitalists trying to make a profit.
 
What this is,is the bankers who are doing it. Of course since the 1980s,the supply side,has been screwing all of us. Farmers prices for their goods don't go up much,meat is 5 dollars a pound at the grocery store. Tell me who is making money?
 
They are jacking up the price of fuel because they think there might be a shortage some time when we get 2% of our oil from Libya? Yeah right. They are using the problems over there as an excuse to play with prices and see if they can get some more out of us.
Whatever finally gets done over this needs to last.We cant set here like sheep and let them do whatever they want to do any more. Maybe close down all the boards of trade and take all of them that are running them to prison and see if things get better?
Oh and another thing I noticed is that ever since the nnalert got control of the House,the price of everything has gone up,higher than it was.I guess the crooks think the nnalert will let them get away with anything they want.
 
Gold went up $22/oz today to over $1400/oz.Silver went up to almost
$34/oz which is great for me.I bought Silver big time at $12/oz.All adds up to the US Dollar is sinking like a rock.
 
All this chat about gas prices and nobody mentions the fact that corn (the #1 ingredient in the ethanol thats getting rammed down our throats) is at historic highs. Fine to debate, but debate fair.
 
No ethanol in diesel fuel that I know of.

Saw $4.059 diesel yesterday at a Shell station just south of the border crossing at Blane.

Drove by the station twice within an hour.

$3.999 the first time and $4.059 the second.
 
My college son who has no job or income will be home for spring break. He's planning to drive up to a lake in central NY for a few days this weekend. I asked him "what money are you using?"
No answer. I'll make sure it's not mine. I have to live like a hermit to keep him and his sister in college, pay a mortgage, support 4 vehicles and keep the lights on not to mention keep warm and fed.
Seems to me that if everyone just cooled it for awhile and only spent on what is NEEDED, not what is WANTED Prices would have to settle down as well. Granted gasoline sitting in the station tanks longer that what is normal really won't effect prices in the short term, but profits will begin to suffer and as a general business rule, there's no middle ground, your either making money or loosing money. If I plan out my motoring trip to town so I get the things I NEED on my route to work and back, it costs me about 2 gallons of gas round trip. If I don't plan and have to make a couple trips, well you can see where this is going. If I decide I don't need something, it will sit on the store shelf until somebody else WANTS it. It's a scary day for retailers when people wise up and start buying only what they honestly NEED, and not everything they WANT.
I WANT a new truck. In reality I NEED a truck, just not a new one. I'm piecing together a 97' to replace the 89' I'm driving now which don't owe me a nickle. When I'm done I'll have less than 2 payments on a new one invested and I'll have the vehicle I NEED to get back and forth to work and the other things I NEED a vehicle for. The neighbor (who I bought the 89' from 8 years ago) has been thru 2 new trucks that he WANTED. In some ways I feel bad that I'm still driving his old 89' but I paid for what I NEEDED and he's still paying for what he WANTED.
 
What DAY is it in your world?! Gold's been over $1400 all week. I just checked DTN to be sure my eyes weren't decieving me at the close. Gold closed steady in everything but June futures and that was DOWN $3.90.
 
I saw a Mel Gibson movie a decade or so ago called "Conspiracy Theory", I think it was. Never been a big fan of his, but that was a pretty good movie. I think it was the FBI or CIA after him, and went into his apartment to get him, but since he suspected that they were after him, he equipped his apartment with secret passages and tunnels through the apartment building, and got away and all kinds of stuff.

Anyway, you mentioned conspiracy theories, and thought I would offer it up. I thought it was a real good movie, and my favorite movies are like "Airplane" "Three Stooges...", usually not serious stuff.

Gas here(the cheapest in town) is 1.179/L which is $4.46/gal. It was 1.099(4.15) before this. If the comments about the oil companies not being greedy were true, why in the he!! does it go up within hours of oil prices going up but takes well over a week to come down again, and even then only half of what it went up by? Should it not take a week to go up and a week to come down again?
 
Weakling prez has allowed middle east instability to get completely out of hand and has led to extreme volitility in the market, this equals higher prices, whether there is an actual shortage of product or not, the perception is that there could be a shortage in the near future caused by production interruptions. The US cannot control the traders of all the nations that depend on the region and know their economies cannot withstand oil supply interruptions. The price increases of 1979 are a text book example and dwarfed the price rises of the 1973 -74 Arab oil embargo. The exact same thing, hedging and speculating against supposed future price increases is currently happening in regards to midwest farmland prices and used equipment prices, even though this behavior caused the farm crisis of the 80's. Have you ever bought anything that you thought was cheap or a deal with the notion of making a dollar or two? if so, you are a speculator.

Grains are up because market speculators realize that decreased worldwide production is being stretched to provide enough for developing countries with increased demand, due to their improving financial situation. Corn used for ethanol certainly doesn"t change the dynamics for soybeans, wheat and other grains. Corn used for ethanol is not wasted- the starch is removed in fermentation, leaving an excellent livestock feed.
 
In case you don't know it,we don't have any business in their business over there.You also need to look at how much we import from there.
This stupid crap has gone on long enough.We have oil here.We even export oil.If we quit exporting any oil while this goes on we wont have any problem.

T-40 -- You need to wake up and try to understand a few basic truths about world events, the USA does not have the luxury of ''staying out of other peoples business'' as you put it, its all about national security and control of the seas. Have you ever heard of the strait of Hormuz or the Suez canal, see how much oil gets delivered without free access on either of those two water ways. If the US did not get a single drop from the region it would still be imperative that we controlled access for our allies and ensure we could cut off the flow to potential enemies if required. As far as drilling and producing in our own country that is not happening because of your hero ZERO, the rest of the democratic party and most of the nnalert party, all of whom have allowed the radical environmentalists to hold the country hostage and cripple our economy. You voted yourself a slave every time you pulled a lever for a modern day nnalert because they promised you a piece of someone elses pie, your learning now that your masters will only give you a dribble of the bounty they steal from the productive and keep you subservient.
 
Alright thats what you have been told to think. What is really going on? Bankers in our country and Israel are doing this because of jacking up food prices. Those people are mad in those countries because of the price of food. The people they want to throw out are our puppets. We have puppets running their government and bankers ruining the economy and starving people over GREED.
The Glass Stegal act being repealed is how they got this done in the USA where they can jack up the price of oil if they THINK there is a chance there could be a shortage. You better look real close at who the crooks were that repealed the Glass Stegal act. They werent all nnalert,but some of the most disgusting nnalert to ever be in office.

So that's turns the speculators loose to call paper stocks real stocks and run up the price of oil without a shortage of oil or anything except the idea that there might be a shortage.

We don't get so much from the Middle East any more anyway and there is a lot of oil here in this country,they have found more since 2008 when they did this before.

The speculators who are running oil up work for the big banks that we bailed out and this is what we get for it.

Don't even try any of the right wing lies that they try and spread. That right there is exactly whats going on. Also over a billion people are at risk of starving over it. There is no lying about it any more. You need to wake up!

Now these bankers want to use our military to back up their gutless greed and manipulation,and you fell for it because of the right wing being bought out and spreading propaganda. Need any more? Don't believe me? Look it up yourself. Its not hard to find if you look hard,and don't ever take anybody's word for anything,look for yourself. You cant trust the news media,you cant trust the politicians,you cant trust anybody.
You also cant believe the right wing because they are owned by the crooks. If you look around you can find some truth.Read what Helen Thomas says about them,that would be a place to start.
