Adjust your tractor problems away

Why is it that so many people come on here thinking that there's some magical adjustment on their tractors that will fix glaringly catastrophic problems?

No oil pressure? Just pump the clutch pedal 10 times. It works like the auto adjuster in a drum brake. You'll have plenty of oil pressure after that... It's an adjustment.

Tire flat? Oh yes, just turn the green knob under the seat until the tire is hard and round again... It's an adjustment.

Is this some form of denial, perhaps?

There seems to be a lot of Newbies joining the forum. They have no knowledge of farming or how tractors and equipment operate. To those of us that grew up on farms, these questions seem rediculis and stupid. Give them a chanch, and answer their questions. Hopefully they will learn to solve their own problems, or at least ask smarter questions.

Everybody's knowledgable in their own field.

Turn me loose in Chicago, and I couldn't cross the street.

Yes, we ask naive ?"s and are very thankful those with experience reply.

So far I have learned a bit but will never be able to catch up to the knowledge of most members on this site.

And be thankful there are enough of us newbie/rookies paying "good" $$$ to buy old tractors. Helps keep the whole American Tractor Iron market going.

btw same thing happens on the Toyota Nation site. I"ve had Toy"s since 1979 and can help/explain most repair questions especially the ECU related error code repairs. Kids over there are more concerned with the tires/wheels then fixing the emissions or getting good mpg.

Tks

How many poor suckers with clogged fuel filters who think their
engine is shot have been helped by asking on the site? Enough to
make it worthwhile for people to ask the questions.

No it is not denial. It is an honest attempt at self suffencey that will help evade the blood suckers that turn a loose battry cable into a new starter or a broken spring into a governor rebuild. A large per cent of "glaringly catastrophic problems" have simple twist of the wrist solutions.

AWWW.. C'mon now.. I adjusted my hydraulic leaks away..

I adjusted the size of the crescent wrench, took the line loose, and put a new one on..

Oh, and the line only leaked when I was using the remote to raise/lower my loader.. Is there something wrong?? Shouldn't it leak all the time or do I have a pump problem?? LOL

Ok, it didn't come out as funny as I thought it would... thousands of comedians lookin for work and I'm trying to be one.. LOL

When the tractor is laying there in a smoking heap and they ask, "Is there an adjustment?" it's going far FAR beyond newbieness and naivety.

It's like wrapping your car around a telephone pole, and saying, "That'll buff right out."

if you look in the photo adds,"The carb needs adjusted" covers a lot of problems.
