OT:96 Tahoe Vortec Intake

Our old Tahoe apparently sucked the intake gasket. Never worked on vortec before does the top of intake need to come off to get to intake bolts inside that I am guessing are there like earlier small blocks. If so how does top come off as I have top loose and something in center of intake top is holding on right where big wire plug was and gas lines went in? Any help sure would be appreciated.

Just take it apart it's pretty straight forward.

I like it so much I did it twice.

The second time I just snugged it up by hand a couple times to make sure it actually tightened.

The upper intake can stay attached to the lower intake as the middle intake-cylinder head bolts the older SBC's had have been committed.

Get use ONLY Fel-Pro Problem Solver gaskets or you'll be doing it again sooner than you'd like.

IIRC, kit part # is 98000T. (Verify that, though!)

Top does not need to come off,,, 8 bolts that retain lower intake that/s all...

Lossen the nuts for the fuel lines at rear of intake are remove lines were they go into the center and remove anchor bolt at rear and tie up lines and wiring harness...

Remove one cover cover are it will not come off ,,, lots of folks get to do it a few times  follow the directions.

Fel-pro makes a metal intake set,,, once the intake is off you can replace the upper seals... No hidden bolts you can see them all...

I got it off and gasket was just like I thought. I got it back on and distributor back in before had to quit. Thanks again.

Bob,
I marked the base of the dist. and had an exact reference for the rotor button. I never turned the engine and it dropped into place I am assuming it's right.
