01 Olds Van Defrost

Sorry for the off topic, but I don't know of another place to ask this, and there seems to be a lot of people who know these newer vehicles on here. Wife left for work this morning with the 01 olds minivan and called and said that it won't blow warm air out of the defrost only the lower vents and floor. She plowed through some snowdrifts last night coming home, don't know if this has anything to do with it. Figured I would not be able to get it in anywhere until next week, so I thought I would ask on here if anyone knows what I should look for that might be the problem, if not it will go into town next week. Everything else works on it and has been kept up. Also, does anyone know of a good forum for GM vehicles, I found one, but there doesnt seem to be much activity? To keep it tractor related, here is what the yard looks like and my 1586 with blower. Thanks for any help.

I have a 98 Pontiac Transport van that i had heater function control problems with.I can"t remember what the exact symptoms were. I had a hard plastic vacuum line get cut by the serp belt. Where mine got cut was on top of the motor just before the P/S pump. I just cut the ends straight and joined them with a rubber hose. The other thought is, you said that the wife was plowing through some drifts. Did the vacuum line get pulled off of the vacuum ball under neath the van. If my memory hasn"t failed me I think its on the right side of the van about half way back on the frame. Just my 2 cents worth. Also when your done snow blowing I"ve got some you could do. LOL

Many cars that new use electric servo-motors for heater/defroster controls. My guess is that yours is one. May need to take it to a mechanic with a good OBDII scanner - one that can be used to activate various controls within the vehicle. Not just one that reads codes.

My wife had one that did the same thing. It was also the same color. They had to tear the dash apart to fix it.The foam rubber that seals one of the air vent doors came off and plugged the
defrost door.

Thanks for the replies, I ran it in the garage tonight, hopefully get the snow and ice melted off of it and take a look around for any unhooked hoses tommorow. If that looks good I will probably take it into town next week. If I start tearing the dash apart it might never work again. :) Thanks for the information.
