Thing to remember about the old chain balers is most dealers quit handling parts for them. Also always have your serial number when ordering parts. We still stock the bars, but the demand has dropped the last couple years. Chains getting very expensive to replace.

I had an 847. It has floor chains which are expensive to replace. The 848 has a roller in the bottom and makes much better bales. One disadvantage is that it has air bags for belt tension and they are expensive to replace. People on here say chain balers are best for baling corn stalks, I've never had any experience with baling them, but having had a chain baler and belt balers I'll take the belt baler.
