spring peepers are out in nw alabama. anyone else heard them yet. planted red potatoes, english peas and onions in the garden yesterday. lettuce patch going in soon.

Nope havent heard them yet, just had 11 inches of snow here in MI and more called for in the week ahead, I say four more weeks at least until warmer weather and snow melt.

Last week it was up in the 70s here in Missouri and yep they have been making noise ever since, but I do also have 2 spring feed pond or should I say lakes since they have an inlet and out let but any how they have been sounding off big time

0 degrees this morning, and 8 inches or more snow on the ground, nope, ain"t heard any spring peepers.
Deer are scraping the snow under oak trees looking for acorns. May be going hungry, that area has been cleaned over by experts already.

Had the first bug on the windshield of the season middle of last week, saw a male redbird yesterday and heard the peepers yesterday evening. Spring is in the air, just hopes it stays there......

They first started singing last week, and heard them up till Monday morning. There was a great big covey of robins in the yard last week, too (counted 17 of them at once). Ooo bring on the spring! Mark

Thanks, I had forgotten that word. I'm sure it will come in handy now that you've brought it back to mind. Yippee for precise speech, as they say.
Zach

Hey Pete, you are in NW Al. I am in NE Ms. I figure that what ever you have in Al. I should Have in Ms. now I know about robins, red birds, lighting bugs june bugs deer flies wood eating bumble bees but what is a spring "PEEPER"???? Don't forget about some cabbage in that garden to.

It was actually a bit tongue in cheek, as it is waiting through warm dry periods by digging into mud/soil and becoming dormant(summer) when normal swamp life dries up. Hibernation is a winter approach to the same thing. Jim

Peeper is a tiny frog with a loud voice.Lets an old man know winter is over, one of the best sounds of spring.
