OT: Truck Tires

I know there has been some fairly recent posts about truck tires but I'd like to get some more views. I have Michelin LT265/75R16 E on the truck, with almost 69K miles on them. The tires will be seven years old in June. I have a great Goodyear dealer close by who I trust completely and I would like to give him the business, all things being equal. I like the looks of the Goodyear Silent Armor tire. Has anyone had any experience with that tire. I haven't shopped yet, but may do that tomorrow as there is no school. Any thoughts on this?

I would stick with the Michelins if I were you. Their AT2s are a high mileage tire that will hold up great. Not the cheapest option, but worth the higher price.

I have those on the work truck, company put them on. Pluses, good traction, quiet. Minuses, will not stay balanced, wear fast, expensive. On my personal truck I have BFG All Terrains, got 110,000 miles and 5 years out of the last set. Never needed rebalance or repair. These are equal to the Goodyears and a bit cheaper.

Cant speak to Michelins but I have nothing but praise for the BFG All Terains. Been running them on taho, jeep, and my k2500. Smooth, quiet and good in the mud - not any snow here in FLA :)

I put Firestone transforce HT on my ford, they are wearing great, about 15-to 16 thousand miles a year pulling a gvw 7000lbs trailer.

I had a set of GY's on my last truck, and a set came on my '00 Mustang. Not impressed with either set, though I can't speak directly on the Silent Armor tires. I dont' think I've ever heard anyone complain about Michelins (other than price). I've gone to Mastercraft on my 'new' truck and wife's Taurus. (Truck tires are the Courser CT's... had a pair on the old truck before I got rid of it, too) Have been very pleased with them, though I haven't driven them long enough to say how many miles I'll get out of them. Made in the USA, too. Truck is an '01 F350 V10, and has same size as yours (I think),load range E.

can't speak about any other brand but just bought a new set of michelin LTX for my truck ( had them on my old truck )
not cheap ( $1000 ) for 4 tires, but would not have any other tire on my truck for ride or durability i am sure other will dis-agree, but i am happy ( except for the price )

Say what ya'll want, but I am looking hard at these. I'm going to try them on my farm truck first. If they hold out, I may put them on my personal truck too. From reading, it is a small, family business and they have some nice tread patterns.

After running that long on Michelins, i think you'll be unhappy with much else! Take a look at Uniroyal laredo (also owned by Michelin)- a good value. With Michelin, stay with the LTX MS2- the AT2 is going through a redesign

The Michelens I had were good on wear, but terrible on traction, especially when it was the least bit damp. I finaly took them off at 62,000 miles.
I replaced them with BFG all terrains. It was the best thing I ever did.

I've had that tire on my F-250 for about 10,000 miles. About $1000 from Sam's with the road hazard package. They are quiet and stable with a load. Still look like new.
For the dually - Michelin XPS.
