Another quick Heifer Question

Quick question. Got a 2yo heifer. Should be about a month along as Iv not noticed any signs of estrus withing the last month. Anyways today I went to feed and she was layin near the hay. She was rockin back and forth like she couldnt get up so I go over to her and she hops right up and heads to the feeder and eats. Well I drove back by about an hour later and there she sets a rockin again. So I stopped and watched. It was like she was trying to push something out. Had a little manure coming out but nothing looked abnormal. Any ideas? Somebody said maybe she had a itch but she was looking toward her back and rocking back and forth while laying on her feet.

I would have thought by your description she has an itch on her belly. Hard to tell but this is the time of year when lice gets pretty bad. Time to run them through and put poor on or recharge your back rubbers and oilers. Are you sure the manure was related to the itching? What I do is about 3 months after bull exposure I have the vet come out and do preg checks, that is the only way you can tell anything. There are blood test now also for preg.

she did have a little lice and i treated them a couple times. that may be all it was but kinda had me worried. Im paranoid bout these first calvers.

Sounds like she was scratching an itch to me, and just happend to relieve a little manure while doing so.

I am the same way, always gets me worried. The lice is real hard to stay ahead of, seems that once they get it they are gunner rub some bald spots even after you treat it.
