case 430 model 23 wont start

I have a case 430 model 23 gas,4 cyl. back hoe,I have never had a problem starting this machine until today,I parked it in the fall and tried starting it today with no luck,It will not even fire with starting fluid,but will backfire with flames through carb.I tried new gas,cleaned carb,new plugs and has spark,removed valve cover to check if any valves were stuck,they were not.I am lost?????

Is the oil level correct? Check for water or coolant in the oil.

I don't know your neighborhood is like but first I would make sure that your plug wires are going to the correct places and not crossed, cap is clean and dry and points are not burnt sometimes they draw moisture and will burn a point on them and not fire correctly

Thanks MDMO for your reply,My problem was so simple I cant believe I missed it.The problem was when I put the distributor cap back on I had it turned 180.I turned it the right way any it fired up as always,Thanks again,Paul
