05 Chevy Venture

My 05 Venture is on it's original battery and I'm thinking about changing it before it quits. This vehicle has a lot of bells and whistles many of which can be programed several different ways, like the door locks. Will it loose the programing when I remove the battery, and if so can I keep it powered up by applying power through one of the 12 volt power outlets in the unit?

I'm not sure if that will work, some times it does. If you get an OBD-2 adapter (the one for connecting a scan tool under the dash) and connect to a battery, you won't lose the memory in the various modules. Auto parts stores should have this cable.

using a 12 volt battery hooked as though you were jumping the original battery, then removing the original is easy and sure. Hook one lead to the starter end of the battery Pos cable, and the other to a good solid frame ground and all is well. It will never know it was transplanted. Jim

The only thing you"ll have to reset is the clock.
