Will this work?

Can Farmall C operate a 4 or 5ft. pull type rotary cutter?

I'd like to be able to cut small brush, small saplings, and tall grass in rough areas.

Your talking a finish mower or a brush hog?? If a finish I would say a 6 footer if a brush hog a 5 footer. If in thick stuff with a hog you can always take half as wide as the hog so as not to over load the tractor

We have run our 5 foot king kutter behind our JD M,
it's ok in grass or small brush and like others have
said you can always take less than a full cut after
the first round. The M horsepower is about the same
as the C, which we also have with a belly mower on.
One thing about the older tractors that you don't
know the history of, unless you dyno them you don't
really know the horsepower. Another problem with
older tractors is they are usually geared quite
high.

"M horsepower about the same as a C". Look up the actual HPs and see if you still feel that way.
Personally, I don't agree with your statement.

I have a 1950 IHC and it handles a 6 ft woods belly mower and pulls a 4600 pound lawn roller at the same time. I don't see why it wouldn't handle a 4 or 5 ft mower.

Run a 5" Schultz hog behind a Farmall 200 - about the same tractor. Have used it in heavy hay. First gear. Don"t like to cut trees and branches - rough on equipment

I ran a 5 foot AC bushog behind a pretty worn Case VAC for years. Go slow, be prepared to stop and it works okay.

ah. Sorry I need to read the original more thoroughly. Naturally I "jumped on" the M as a Farmall when the C was mentioned.
