McKee gearbox

Does anyone know where I can get a gearbox for a McKee snowblower? I think New Idea bought them out but New Idea isn't around anymore either.

Mine is shot, too. Offhand, don"t know what brand it is, but Safeguard, out of SoDak is a supplier to many. Sure you can"t find a new one for under a grand. My plan is to re-machine things by running the power shaft directly to the blower fan, and mount a sprocket on that shaft.....driving with chain to a rt angle box from a salvage machine, like a little stalk chopper. I"ve also saved some gearboxes from augers, etc., that should be strong enough. That box would then run to the shaft and chain running the augers.

Check with an Agco dealer. That's where New Idea went.

Just rebuilt the gearcase in my New Idea blower. Went to a John Deere 686 blower,bearings and seals are same complete gearcase is NLA from Deere. McKee built blowers for a lot of colors.

What and where is Safeguard? I have 2 Mckee blowers,one for each place,and know where there is another that is in good shape except for the gearbox. Thanks for the info guys.
