I imagine most of ya'll remember Marty Robbin's song "El Paso".

Fellow on RFTV the other nite said he ran into an old cowboy from New Mexico who said the fellow singing the song wasn't being chased for shooting another guy over a girl. He was being chased for stealing a horse for his getaway.

Makes sense to me!

Hey Goose. Didn't Marty Robbins sing that tune?. any way, IMHO it would be better to shoot a man over a horse stealin than to shoot a man over some No GOOD, NO account female who is looking for a sugar daddy.Money goes from hand to hand, while a woman goes from man to man. TRUE??? Just asking

One of my all time favorite songs. I heard the same thing years ago. The shooting was self-defense..It was horse theft that got him.
Trivia: When that was released, it was the longest recorded song to that date on a 45 RPM record.
