Calling central ky farmers

I have been beating the pavement in a search for land these past couple months in central ky. I know I will be faced with some competition from bigger more established farmers. I am 22 and having been farming since I was 17. I currently farm outside Louisville and am looking to relocate to central ky. I go to UK and am pursuing an ag degree. If you guys know of any land that could be up for lease could you email me please? Thank You

Unfortunately, you may end up having to buy acres to the extent you may have to pay a premium and pay up front going head to head with existing operators. I know of 4 long established dairymen in the area that are going grain in a big way. A couple of hay guys that I compete with just got bumped off of long term leases for row crops. With cattle prices where they are I've been hearing rumblings of some pasture leases too that scare me. I'd be tempted to try the newspapers. Local papers and the Lexington Herald. I've been hearing rates that scare me, most landowners I been talking too want 50 percent of the average expected gross and they furnish no inputs. Even more scarey is I know at least two guys who are writing checks at that rate.

Welcome to the big leagues! We are in the same boat, fortunately we have added ground to our operation every year. We are just waiting for the big one to put us over the top.
