9 liter v8 diesel international to farmall M conversion

My thoughts, too. Wern't the 560s suped up Ms? Didn't they experience rear end problems due to the added power? Never had one and never will, but I heard something about that.

thinking about pulling with it? I'd be worried if you overpower it, as it would subject rest of drivetrain to excessive stress, leading to premature failure.

I have seen a few pullers with a v8 chevy motor in them and the rear ends seem to hold up just fine. I would say that the rear end in a M will hold up to a lot more power then what is in them.

Yep Bill is correct an M's transmission won't hold up to the increased power. The 560 was an M with a 6 cylinder engine in it. Took it from 39hp into the 60's.

IH recalled all the early ones and upgraded the rear ends.

We put a 9 liter in an International 1468 that we have. The original motor was junk. Runs like a top with tons of power and goes 42 mph down the road. Probably too muck for an M, but just about right for the 1468!

A 12v 5.9 Cummins goes in there so nice.Easy to find, will make a ton of power, and run forever.
Why fool with anything else?

well, just thinking of it more as a novelty than pulling. I have a 9 liter on hand and an m. was just a thought. wasnt sure how involved it would be or if any one had done this. I have seen a few with the 5.9 cummins as the first reply said and it does look sweet but 9 liter is what I have.
thanks for all replies.
