What's happened to John? Haven't seen anything from him in a while. I enjoy his posts.

I think John is a pretty sensitive guy and when somebody gets into his $hit, he tends to let it get to him . Then he goes AWOL for a while. I just knew it was going to happen the other day when he got his toes stepped on by one person here. Not unusual for those brilliant ones to do this.
Don't let it get to you, John. You are much respected and appreciated here as I have told you before.

I didn't think of that one. I was thinking maybe it wasn't cold enough here for him and he headed for MI. But that would probably put him right where you suspect- crossing the border!

PJH. I'm another fellow that misses John's post. I've read almost all of his civil reply's, and I have read where he can give back hard reply's as he gets. There is no question John is super intelligent in more ways then one. When he gives his reply's, they come with self knowledge And or manual technical data. I for one, would love to have his knowledge so life would be more pleasant and like John, HELPFUL TO OTHERS WHO NEED IT.I found his post to be perfectly frank,TRUTHFUL and kind.Don't know why he is absent here, but I can tell ya LOU & VICTOR misses his post. When I end my post, I try and leave with honor, using WARMEST REGARDS, or plain REGARDS Shows Polightness and RESPECT. Where are You J DE?
Warmest regards LOU & VICTOR

He was on here on Sunday the 6th. yep he is a smart guy. I mean who else can post a 1980 chevy blower motor on here that fast, sure there is a pic in my 1973 GMC or 1984 Chevy manuals, but I have no idea how to get it on the computer! LOL J

Buick , I am a believer that you are either right or wrong. Anything in between is being a bobble head (yes man , brown noser etc etc). If you are right , be proud of it , if you are wrong and they have proved it then be man enough to admit it. Most of the world falls in between and THAT is our problem. No one wants to "commit" because commitment implies responsibility. Everyone wants a "scapegoat". It's been said " show me a man who smiles when things go wrong and I'll show you a man who has found someone to blame" One can either "stand" or "fall" we know there's not much in between.

This thread sounds like your attending a wake. I'm sure he will post again when he has time. With all his properties and projects I'm sure he's pretty busy.

He has a place in Northern lower Michigan so I picture him with a snowshovel trying to dig his way out to the road and a dangling power line leading to the house.

I have found he is very knowledgable on Detroit Diesel engines. I always read his post because he can backup what he says with page and paragraph or experience. Pretty intresting guy.
Never knew how old he was but just pictured him as having quite a bit experience in this thing we call life.

Ive been here for yearssssssssss (more then most here) and seen them come and seen them go, yet life somehow goes on. I think it was DeGaulle who said something like "The Graveyards are full of indispensible people"

Im sure hes fine and in good health, just probably travelling or busy, and God Bless him and all here.

Hey Leo - sometimes even when you know without a doubt that you are right, it doesn't hurt to allow someone else to think you're wrong.

ie - who cares?

Kinda reminds me of how much smarter I've become as my sons have gotten older. . .

At least in their eyes.

Just read this somewhere a few days ago.

If you"re wrong but I agree with you anyway, then we"re BOTH wrong!

If I think I'm right then I want someone to prove with "facts not talk" that I'm wrong. If I'm proved wrong with facts then I have no problem admitting I'm wrong but I will not give up till proven wrong.

Good point Brian, but we can disagree until we wear the keys off of the keyboard, just to get the last word in, and still accomplish nothing. In my younger days I would do just that. Today I don't care if I'm viewed as right. Or wrong.

Sometimes a topic would come up on here that I felt that I knew a little about, and a post or two would be in error (in my opinion). I have typed up a response (or rebuttal) to the post in error and smugly smacked the send button. Usually my response post did not contribute a thing to resolving the issue, and in fact prolonged into a long and painful discourse of "I said/you said" rebuttals until someone finally gave up in exasperation.

I have adopted a new technique. Type up the rebuttal, read it through once, hit the delete key, and go on. I'm working on the "no typing - just go on" technique, but haven't mastered it yet.

By the way, Brian - this is not a rebuttal to your comment. You may have the last word - if you choose.

:~)

Never dealt with the DOT have you... or mabey even guberment officials in general.
I'll argue a lot of things but when it comes down to argueing with a man with a ticket pad over petty fines... it's just not worth it. Being right will cost you far more money than letting him think he's right. Take the Buckleys and move on. Going to court to fight something, even if you're proven right will cost you more in lost time than most summary offence tickets will ever cost you.
Then you just learn how to deal with these people so that they don't hassle you...

Hate to beat a dead horse...but this guy gives solid advice. I would like to contact him with a few DB2 pump questions. Hope all is well.
