Another ice storm has hit Dallas. Its not nearly as bad as it was last week, but enough to shut things down.

Temp about 19, windchill 3. Strong north winds (about 25 mph, gusts over 40). Low tonight 15.

Offices are closed again today and maybe tomorrow.

Same here in Canton Nancy. It is just coming in the east part. Glad I got my glow plugs fixed before it gets down to 12o tonight. How were things at the farm? Hope the horses and all else were OK. We had 7" snow and ice here. Maybe this one won"t be as bad I hope, supposed to be in the 60"s this week-end. Y"all take care around Dallas.

I"m at school. It hasn't gotten to Montgomery County yet, but expected soon. The weather service is predicting the possibility of sleet and ice later today. I'm glad I'm not driving a school bus this afternoon.

i live near decatur tx and everythings shut down. all the roads are covered with ice and snow. i work for sears as a in home tech and well they still expect us to work in it.

Awwwwww, that's really too bad. I'd get out my violin, but the sound post came loose.

So what's the problem? That looks like a pretty nice day here in Nebraska.

Yesterday I was out inspecting houses in -4 temp with ice covered streets. I had to estimate some of the dimensions 'cause my measuring wheel doesn't work too well with a foot of snow on the ground. It was just another day's work.

It"s minus 10 here in Western Wisconsin this
morning, hasn"t been above zero in days...so
why are you complaining about the heat wave ?

how far south did the freeze go? heard rumors that northeren mexico got froze and ruined fruit crops. bad rumor i hope

had to drive on the sidewalk to get around all the cars on the hill at commerce at ih 35 in downtown dallas. no one could get up the hill. dont know why my jetta could go and everyone else was spinning. all six lanes were blocked. guess no one will turn me in??? now I'm wondering if I can get home tonight.

Just went to the barn. Rounded up my barn cats and put them in the tack room.

Thermometer at the barn read 15. Snowing hard now, but very small, fine flakes. Coming down at about a 45 degree angle because of the wind. Sometimes horizontal when the wind gusts.

Wind chill is somewhere around 0.

Yeah, I know this is "just another day for you folks up north".

This is getting old and I"m getting bored. James is napping and daytime tv worth watching (no cable) is a total zip.

Let"s see, how many hands of spider solitaire can you play in an hour or a day?!!!

You can watch TV shows on the Internet.Or you could just type in a You Tube search box something you are interested in and watch a video about it.I watched one for how to rebuild an alternator Yesterday.

Last week we got down into the mid to upper 20's for an extended period of time. The good part (for the fruit) is the fact we had a thick layer of ice which actually protects (insulates) the fruit so the damage was minimal. The cold is back again today and it's supposed to freeze again tonight, but it's supposed to be below freezing for only a few hours this time.
Last weeks freeze seemed to have no effect on the onions or cabbage either, but with this wind it may get a wind burn (cold).
DS in Cameron County.

Not much different here in Greenville, and like you I am tired of it and getting bored being at home so much. All the schools are closed, so no peace and quite here. Bing on 90 degrees any day.

I always thought Texans were supposed to be such a hardy, rough "n ready, he11 bent for leather breed.

Now all you do is sit around and whine when the weather isn"t to your liking.

That"s like calling off the Normandy Invasion "cause the moon didn"t come out.

Nancy, Got a Heat Wave here in South Central Texas @ 4:00 pm.Sun came out a while ago. 34 degrees in the sunshine on the South side of the barn or the house, wind chill is 23 degrees, Low in the morning will be 19. Just a tad out of our norm here for the 2nd week in a row.
Keep the DSL plugged in,Hubs in Lock, and a chain or tow strap in the tool box just in case... ......... I think I have an old set of chains in some old GI ammo box some where I just can't seem,:,./#,:,.#,:;,.#/!!!!!!!!!! Be Safe All!

It's almost over I hope. Are we in for a population spike around September?

Just a bit colder here this morning, +3 with a wind chill of -12. Had a little snow last night but no ice, got up to 16 today and low will be around +5 in morning. On a good note we are suppose to be in the 70s here by Tuesday. These single digits have taken their toll on us around here, pipe busting every where.

We are. We just don"t like yankee weather coming down here. Screws up our BBQ partys, but it does keep the BEER cold

I always get a kick out of reactions to weather around the country- whatever people are used to, and then it turns. Recent AZ trip, ran into some snow and ice that we would ignore here, but we have equipment to handle those issues. My son has a "plow truck" - 1 ton Ford with a plow that we saw as city trucks in KS, NE. Here, all county and city trucks have "wings", to extend and push snow WAY off the road, into the ditches. Missed some sites on the trip because of weather closures that would not shut us down...ie, quarter inch of ice, schools and businesses were closed in KS, like in Hutchinson, one of our stops, and today they had 15 inches of snow...tough for them, normal for us in any snowfall. In MN, we typically get ice less than once a year, but lots of snow, 50-60 inches around here, and had over 100 tornadoes last year. I"ve been through only one, over 40 years ago. Most farmers here have more snow removal capacity with their tractor blowers and skidloaders than what towns do in the area we drove through. Couldn"t understand why the southern towns don"t hire local road contractors, with Cat loaders and graders, to clear the streets? Bottom line, why do we stay here? Grew up with it, enjoy the very definite seasons, put up with windchill and low temps- worst here was -44 air temp in 1992...but, relatively temperate summers. Throughout our 16 day trip, I was amused with the reaction to weather in those areas. Also enjoyed my land renters email, since he had a temp of minus 29.5 one morning. But, I"ve had my share of them, too. I guess a lot depends on what we are used too, and we are comfortable staying here, just like others are ok with they live. In retirement, it doesn"t bother me to see what the younger ones are putting up with. We"ve BTDT.

It may be just another day up here in Iowa .. but I'M TRIED of IT ... if weather man is right ..we are suppose to get in the 50's next week ... today high was 8 .. yesterday 5 ...

ready for spring ...

Mark

Third year in a row, heavy snow 10-16 foot drifts, temps 20s below, wind chills -30. Makes me "wonder" what the heck I'm doing here when I'm out choring in this winter "wonder land". Hope it breaks soon but I guess we take what we get.
