Bought a Deutz D4006

Hi all,

Just brought home a Deutz D4006.got it from a family friend"s estate.It is in fairly good shape.does need some work.Mainly the rear brakes seem to be non-existant.The key switch doesn"t work and the exhaust needs replacing.also there is a problem with the 3 point hitch.They attempted to install a front end loader and when the hydraulics were added,the rear hitch stopped working.

Oh well,another project for me.I will be asking many questions.

You might actually not have any problems at all (except the brakes) the Deutz's are funny the key switch is a 5 position and functions as the light switches too. What do you mean it doesn't work?

By your right hand while sitting on the seat is a hydraulic selector valve the small lever should be in the center position (I think...) to activate the 3 point. forward for loader.
 
The key switch doesn't seem to have any resistance at all.it doesn't click into a position like a car switch does.I can't tell if it activates the lights because there aren't any,they have been removed.i do intend to replace them as well as the tail lights.

we have played with the levers by the seat.they don't seem to do anything.
I am searching for the operators manual as well as repair manual.

a couple questions,

was looking at the 3 point hitch.i removed the seat and pulled off the cover under it.stuck my hand down into the hydraulic fluid and checked the movement of the levers.they seem to be fine.no missing clips from what i can feel.any suggestions on what i can check next to make the 3 point hitch go up and down?

on the brakes.are they adjustable like on a car?i can get the tractor to stop,i just have to stand on the pedals.
