Hi Guys,

Been workin' on this red devil for what seems like 'bout a week now.

Still have some string height issues and it needs more spank on the top; a bit thin on those high strings. Think we might be gettin' closer tho.

Anyhoo, thought I'd try my hand at this old tune. Somebody told me that it was written in 1937. Yipeee! Finally found somethin' older than me. :>)

Nice easy listening to something even two years older than me.lol.
Keep it coming.

You know Allen, some of us think you just say you have tractors just to get a audience. What ever the case might be SOUNDS GREAT AND NICE TO SEE THE OLD EQUIPMENT BEING USED.

Sure do enjoy someone who can play that good, sounds great.

When I was a kid I tried and tried to learn to play the guitar and banjo. My folks could play and they would have been so proud if I could have, but I just couldn't do it. Music teacher said all my fingers were good for was baitin' my hook and pickin' my nose.

Ooopps!!!!!

Oh heck, sorry 'bout that. I thought you guys liked these goofy things.

I'll stop puttin' 'em on here. My bad. :>(

Hey Ol' Bud!

That music teacher should have been horse-whipped for saying that to you or anyone else for that matter!

That kind of behaviour is screamingly inapproiate because kids take that kind of stuff to heart, it leaves a lasting impression and it just never should have been said.

Really sorry he/she treated you that way. Boy! That tale makes my blood boil! :>(

Hey Jimmy!

Where the heck did all you guys go? Sure miss you, Harley, Sloroll, etc., etc on these boards.

You fellas always made made my day! :>)

About string height - are you telling us you need a different guitar to play that one? I remember the more standard guitar version played on country stations in the 1950's and you nailed that one.

My references place the song at 1925, with the "best" jazz version recorded in 1930 by Red Nichols' band featuring Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Gene Krupa and Jack Teagarden.

Oh heck no,

But I had this thing all apart lying about the house for the past week while I worked on it. When putting it back together, that string height has to be adjusted just so.

If I go to reach for a note and the silly string isn't where my 'muscle memory' says it should be, it breaks my concentration and causes the dreaded flubbed notes. :>)

Kinda like if you reached for the turn signal lever on yer car and someone had moved it up or down a couple of inches. You'd miss the task.

Just pizzes ya off more than anything. LOL!

Nice to see I'm not the only guy that hangs his hand off the neck by his thumb. That drove my mentors nuts! They wanted that wrist bent around and the thumb back of the neck.

Good job.

Hey Allen what is your contact info? I want to send it to the half time cordinater for the bowl. GOOD GRAVEY you have way more talet then those guy's. Well maybe not SLASH, maybe some long hair and a top hat might put you in the big time! LOL. Still would like to see some of your collection pics, musical or farming.

Allan,

You play well as usual.

Any special meaning connected with the guitar picture on your shirt?

Ron

I'm not at all musically inclined; more like "declined" but it seems to me that Les Paul's sound comes thru on that a lot. He had a lot of influence on electronics in music, I think.
I really enjoy your playing and I will venture a guess that probably most of the guys watching the halftime show would rather have seen you there than Black-eyed Peas. Geesh, it was in Texas, after all!!

Naw no reason,

My wife makes all my clothes from scratch and she is just about as handy as they come with a needle and thread.

Thing isn't a "picture", it is embroidered (sewn) with thread. :>)

"Picture" was a poor choice of a word by me !!

Your wife is as talented at sewing as you are at music, or maybe she is a musician too?
