Sometimes i see "click on modern view" what is that? I can't figure out what that means. Is there a "modern view" link on here that I'm missing? Thanks

Modern View is just another way to look at the forum. It's a more up to date version of viewing message boards, though from what I hear people prefer the "Classic View" better..why on earth they would, I'm not sure. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Go ahead and click on the "modern view" you'll like it a whole lot better than the antique, clunky "classic" version.

I occassionally check "Modern View" but I like the "Classic" version much better. I think it may be a matter of age. Users who grew up with computers probably like the "Modern" best while older users who just acquired computers in their older years prefer the "Classic".

I don't usually read replies made in modern view . So many times you see "'Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see " than I have no idea who they are talking about and when they did leave the quote's in it took to much room .

I'm a little long in the tooth(getting old) and have only been using a computer since '02. I prefer Modern because the posts that have had replied to rise to the top of the page very similar to the way cream did on milk that I had to go collect from the cow in my YOUTH

Both views have their pros/cons. I prefer the modern view because in puts the post in chronological order and looks much cleaner. Classic view is not as efficient to read through. I do not really care who is replying to post, so Classic view does not suit me. I see an interesting topic, I read the whole post and maybe comment.

Enjoy,

I've just discovered the Modern View which will allow me to easily post photos {I couldnt do that on the older version}

Haven"t been in modern view for some time--for awhile it allowed a lot more negative personal comments, which just got in the way of rational discussions--may no longer be true (I"ve assumed the "quote removed" was something too negative for the original forum)...

I too like the modern view and I'm 60+ years old.
I frequent this forum more now that we have the modern view option, since it's more in line with most other forum websites.

Age don't really have anything to do with it, as most other websites have the modern view.
It's just what you're used to, and I know many on here are used to the old version.

However, this modern view is different than other forum websites in the fact that at times we can't tell who the poster is replying to. :?

I think though, that it's because the replys that are posted in the classic view are not showing that info when coming across to the modern view. And this makes it confusing to the ones looking at their posts in the modern view.

I'm not complaining though, since this is one of my favorite forums.
But, I think it could be improved by addressing that problem.
JMHO :)

Yep, it's right there.
I prefer the classic view. I feel I can follow the conversations better.
I have registered my location and occupation, which is available at modern view, profile, and I wish everyone did.

You brought up a good point about registering your location and occupation in the profile on Modern view. Only problem is it's only displayed in Modern view.

Yes, and also, in modern view, your email address is automatically displayed, but it DOES NOT display in classic unless you were using classic when you replied, and then you have to enter your email each and every time you reply. Modern view is so much easier and cleaner.

(quoted from post at 17:25:15 02/05/11) NO one answered the question. Where is the Modern view so we can click on it?

Not too difficult to find.
