Rear 3pt snow throwers

Who sells rear 3pt snow throwers?
What does a New or used one cost?
I would like to have one, plowing is a PITA cause if I get another 12" of snow I have no where to pile it up, unless I have my neighbor come over with his skid steer.

Here in NY on Craigslist I see them around $800-2000. New is a good bit more. I like the loader and blade on my farmall H that I am using now, since it can pile the snow up 7' high or so, but I have heard the blowers are nice if you have the money and a flexible neck.

ditto on the flexible neck

snowblower also helps you find lost brake drums, large rocks and misc debris

modern tractor with front pto is great for snowblowing

I just ordered a Hardy Lynx 52" model for my Kubota BX2350. The price was $1950 and it will arrive sometime this summer. My tractor has about 17pto hp, so it should be pretty close to your Deere. Northern tools lists a blower for less, but after you pay for shipping the price is back around $2000. I also priced out a Meteor SB51, it was about the same size and price, but the dealer was farther away from my house. If you order it ahead of time they can probably have it painted to match your tractor for another $100.

I had debated on a front mount model, but it was about $1000 more expensive and I would not be able to use my loader at the same time.

Good luck.

Well, they are 1/2 price in mid summer, and double price now. ;) I'd see a lot of $800-2500 good used ones all summer - 8 foot, 2 auger, 2-stage, made for 100-150hp tractor. Now, I'd assume everyone is sold out & asking new price for anything available.

To run one you NEED a tractor with live or independent pto, and you really want several reverse gears, you NEED a slow reverse.

match the size of the blower to the size of the tractor. Don't mess with a Vee plow. There are single stage that are ok - one fast spinning cross auger; and there are 2-stage that are generally considered a bit better - one or 2 slow spinning cross augers, and a high speed fan or blower at 90 degrees to eject the snow.

Have a seven foot allied two stage that I put on a 1655 Oliver. It seems to handle 4-5 foot drifts ok, and six footers if they aren't too long. Cost was just under $4K.

I have a Bueler (sp?) that is very nice. 96", two stage, and hyd. spout turning. Bought it new 7 winters ago and use it sporadically--that is, when the snow is too deep to plow with the F-250. This last blizzard was/is an excellent example: drifts that will only get the truck stuck and 2,000 feet to the road. I paid $2,200 for this one and saw recently that they were around $4,000 now. Nice heavy piece of equipment. You will need a 100 hp or more cab tractor and preferably MFWD to stay on track. Two wheels slip and slide a lot. And, oh, my next tractor is going to have a front 3 pt. and PTO just for this job. No sore necks but it would still be easier in the long stretch. Hope this helps a little. BTW, check www.WisFarmer.com for ads--there might be some used stuff available right now. A great paper.

We have two blowers and they got alot of use this week. They ran from wednesday morning untill this afternoon.

The blue two auger shorter one is a 30 year old 8 1/2 foot Lucknow. Very good blower, takes 120 horse power to run it to the max. Can buy something like this for 1 grand on a farm sale, NORMALLY.

This is something a little different. Made by Fair mfg. Has a 250 hp gearbox is 8 foot wide with two 4 foot fans and it is amazing what it will do even compared to the other one. Cost, in excess of 10 grand new. This week it was worth every penny! If it werent for these blowers we would still be digging and have piles everywhere. My advice would be purchase the biggest best blower your tractor will handle and you will be happy.

Again Bill, nice pics of some nice equipment. That orange one looks scary! Two 4' fans or impellers? Wow,, I wouldent want to get caught in that thing!

I've got a 5' Pronovost Puma on my 750 JD. That'll make the ol' gal bark if you get a full cut, but it beats the heck out of plowing!

Kinda of a loose question isent it?, "who sells them" were are you located? dont you have any dealers nearby? Or classified papers? Emerich Sales and Service sells them here in NY, or Kennedy Tractor. Does that help you any? You must have some clue to were you can find one in your area?

In the Furrow (John Deere mag) there is a add for a snow blower that fits on a JD 400 quick loader. Said it meeded 50hp was hyd driven from the rear PTO. It was a Frontier Brand which means JD buys it from somebody else. Looked like a neat rig. Didn't state a price.

There is a tractor supply 4 miles from me and they dont sell them.....Website doesnt even list them. My JD dealer might sell them, I have to call. But they will want and arm and a leg.
A good used one for $700 would be great, single stage.

Any farm auctions in your area? Sometimes they come up for sale there. I think Im gonna look for one too this spring/summer, I only need a 5-6 foot one.

Please do NOT buy and Agro-Trend blower. Junk. They are available in upper MN. We've had nothing but trouble. Frame at the top link ripped, spout turner falls apart, and just generally cheaply built.

So much for the guys that say a single stage isn't worth having. That Fair machine is just 2 single stage blowers side by side. I'd say there was some really good engineering in it's design though. Dave

5' - 6' PTO snowblowers are easy to buy for $500 in the summer. Not so cheap mid-winter when there's snow around.

I bought a Deere model 240 (6 foot wide) for $500 during the summer. I saw several in the local classifieds this week in the $750 - $1500 price ranges. Typical for winter prices after a lot of snow.
