Used oil stock tank heater

Any of you guys ever try to build a used oil stock tank heater. I have been kicking this around for a while and would like to try to build one. Any ideas?

About 60 years ago we had one that was sold by some company in Iowa.(don't remember what the name was.) We had to mix half and half with Kerosene. A couple corn cobs at the bottom soaked in karosene first, to get it started.
There was a two gallen tank with an adjustable
spigote to adjust number of drops. Started it
before milking in the morning and by the time
the cows were turned out the tank was thawed.
This unit was made out of HEAVY round pipe.ggp

We also had a factory built one. Dont remember the brand, it was old back in the late 60's when I remember it. ours dripped the oil on some sort of pumice stone rocks seemed like.

We also had several wood burning tank heaters. Weighted them down with concrete blocks. Generally used old hedge fence posts we had taken out, cut and split up small. Man they made a hot fire once you got them going. You could take a bath in the water tank after they had been going several hours.

We had a home-made one, it was made like a U out of 6 in heavy pipe. had about 6 ft of stove pipe on one side the other side had a channel iron drilled with holes and laying in the other side, there was a 2 gal tank for fuel/oil (we put a little gas in the oil) it had a real good valve that would just let oil drip on the plate with holes in it. The dangerous thing was lighting it wet a paper in fuel and threw it in. then you had to blow on it to get it burning the right way. it singed me a few times. Life is to short to fool with things like that. LOL Vic
