The weather guys here in Rochester NY have been hyping this storm for almost a week now. Predictions ranged from 6-12", up to 18-24".

They had everyone in a panic, and created a run on milk, eggs, flour, bread. Closed all the schools last night in anticipation... Heck, the garbage man canceled pickups for today!!!

We got 4" of gritty snow. Big freakin' deal... It's gonna be 30 this afternoon, with a little sleet and freezing rain. By then the roads will be heated up by the traffic and the salt trucks will be out.

The commute was a little slow, but I left early and beat the traffic. My two coworkers both came up with lame excuses why they couldn't come to work. They're gonna "work from home." I'm legitimately sick yet here I am...

I am with mkirsh, west of Syracuse and all we have heard since Sunday was the incredible "Storm of the Century" that was going to hit us. Got up early to plow driveway, had 5" of snow..... WOW. Were predicted to get anywhere for 8"-24" depending on who you listen too. We get lots of lake effect snow off lake ontario, so 5" of snow wouldn't cause anyone around here to even notice if it hadent been for the hype. Oh and I think this was our third "Storm of the Century" this year..........

I have seen waaaay worse.
I have about 8" on the ground now.
At least the weather clowns didnt screw up the opposite way and say there will be a dusting and then we get 12" of snow.

Same here. I'm in the Northwest corner of Onondaga county. [I can throw snowballs into Cayuga & Oswego counties from my house]. Left the block heater plugged in all night, got up early to plow snow and all we had was 6 inches. Just a normal day.

same this here in cambridge ontario, we ended up with about 5" and most was blown into drifts, truck was blown clear of snow before i got up.

We haven't had what I consider a "storm" in many many years. Many of these forcasters of today were not even around back then. They don't know what a storm really is.

Wish we could have said not much wind here in Monroe County..

Last night at midnight, my cousin that lives with me called and said he was stuck coming home from work..

His car is still sitting in someone's driveway, and it took everything the truck had to get us back home.. Most drifts were 2'+ deep at the time, which is ok if they're not too long..

Wind was blowing hard enough that I thought the stop sign down the street was gonna rip off the post, and visibility was something right around 0 at that point.. Heard on the radio that we were having 62mph gusts

Right now, things are pretty calm though.. May just try to get the snowmobiles out here in a few.

In 1992 January, I remember a super heavy snow dump, 12-15 inches if I am correct. Blowing and drifting was over 2 feet in some spots.
I actually went to work that day, cause I was stupid.....20 miles 1 way. Took me over an hour. I was Technician for a large auto supplier. I didnt even get any brownie points for showing up.

I-70 from KC to St. Louis was shut down yesterday and Parts o I-44 where also. There was also talk about closing Hwy 13 but not sure it is happened. Been almost 2 decades since I have seen a snow this deep here in Missouri

It wasn't much by the time it got to southern NH. I got only about six inches, but it is heavy and dense and doesn't compress while plowing. On top of all the other snow this year it really adds up. It is thigh deep in the low places and the piles are the biggest that I have had in 21 years at this place. We have lost almost none of what we have gotten and it is getting to be expensive for the municipalities to haul it off.
