Weather man says 33 below tonight with 10 mph wind for a -50 wind chill.

My bulls will be tested this spring but just wondering how much cold they can take before they risk freezing their nuts? Many a good bull gets ruined this way but I've never heard anyone say what temps will do the damage.

I have seen cases where the lower part of the scrotum is frostbitten and sloughs off.

this was on young animals, not breeding stock.

Makes me hurt just thinking about it.

Dakotas. Most the snow is east of us tonight although we just got another six inches yesterday. We always get the cold air and wind from Canada as the warm front moves east.

Well, if you're standing around the bull pen, and keep hearing clink, clink, I'd say you are getting close to that temp!

You want to make sure they have wind protection and dry bedding. Animal condition is a nother major factor. They can stand most anything if you take care of them.
