Road conditions report by Iowa HWY Patrol

Just heard on the radio that the roads are 0 to 100% snow packed. They had to have the patrolman say it in order to be official.

Seems that could be replayed in July also.

Sitting here with the wood furnace blasting away. Usualy I'm concerned that there wil be a fire or EMS call in this kind of weather. Not a concern tonight, because I'm more apt to get a sun burn, rather than get to the station anyway. It makes me feel kind of helpless till morning.

Ya think if something happened like having a heart attack etc the only way they could get to a lot of people in Missouri would be by helo. Oh by the way that road forecast thing is a heck of a laugh what the heck does it tell you but nothing

If you are saying a chopper is the way, not a chance in this weather, they would not even lift off. Snowmobiles are the only way, and for fire, our fire chief runs a maintainer with a v plow, but they are slow. But a snow plow doesn't mean you can see the road, or where to plow.

I'm bored out of my skull, so I will rant onward. Ever notice how the news media says something like ... the president said in a speach today.... then in a instant they play the recording of the statment.. Why?

Then on the other hand when there is a flood, or disaster, our govenor has to fly over and land in front of a resterant, (and in front of alot of news cameras) in order to see what the rest of us have seen for days on the local stations. And when they are checking it out, they are inclined to hold babies in their arms.

I probably should shut down for the evening, there will be lots to do when the wind lets up.

Read a story in the hometown newspaper a couple weeks back about some folks that had a fire durring a blizzard. Fire trucks could not get to them and they lost the whole shebang.
Sometimes you are on your own!

Yeah-----That's quite a range-"Zero to 100%". Around me, it's 100% snowpack between Dec and Apr. They don't bother to announce it. Although, the other day, and it surprised the daylights out of me, they actually spread some sand about 50' on either side of my mailbox. They usually just hit the mailbox doing about 40mph with snow flying so high you'd think they were using a blower, which they don't.
