Having an ice storm and the next one is on it's way. Neighbor had a tree take his power lines down. We are on the same transformer. Two years ago, I purchased a sruge protector after a wind storm took my power lines down and caused damage due to surges.
My garage door wouldn't open and it wasn't ice related. Plugged a fan in the power outlet to the opener and I had power. The opener was asleep. I remember reading a while back where someone on this sight paid $94 for a service man to unplug his dishwasher to reset it. While thanks for that post, I decided to unplug my garage opener and plug it back in. It's working fine now. I've had this opener for 20 years and nothing like this has ever happened. Thanks for the post, saved me a service call.
If we get more freezing rain, as predicted, and winds too, I'm looking for my power lines to go down too. Hope the investment of the surge protector pays off.
