OLD help with antenas

I do rembember you di-pole antenna, however on my radio there is no place for a ground. Can I hook ground to ground spring of battery ground spring??
 
Need a little more details, as to what you're trying to accomplish. Dipoles are a "balanced" antenna, and they don't necessarily need a ground. Typically the transciever frame should be grounded with a short braid or strap to a nearby ground rod if possible. What are you doing? TV, CB, Ham, Scanner....?????
 
I have one of the emergency radios with weather band. I cannot get anything but small voice which I cannot hear on weather. Not long ago OLD had a post on how to tale 5 foot of flat antenna lead cut in middle (one wire) One wire to antenna one to ground On radio I thought
 
Hear"s a diagram for an antenna made of 450 ohm twinlead, Could be made of 300 ohm twin lead like old TV antennas use. Dimmensions should be about the same. As a receive antenna, you don"t have to be as exact as when transmitting.

Is it an FM radio??? My antenna is basically made for a simple poor mans way of making an FM antenna. As for ground yes you could most likely hook on end up that way and be ok but I would use a meter first just to make sure there is no voltage from the antenna to ground just in case it is hoked up odd which does happen. If it has one of those telescopic antennas you might try one lead or the other hooked to it off the di pole and see if that helps
 
No, that won't help reception. If it's one of those little el-cheapo radios, like a Kaito KA007, it probably won't work better with any other antenna unless you take it part and change some wiring.

Depends what radio and if it actually has a remote antenna port.

Weather band broadcasts on 3 frequencies here.Only one is strong enough.Your radio should have a switch.
