I am looking for an economical guidance system that is very portable. I will only use it on about 150 acres of small grain and pasture when applying 30% N this spring.

GPS lightbars are getting pretty inexpensive now. Once you have used one, you will never go witout. Most mount with a suction cup and plug into a cigarette lighter.

I'm in the same situation, only fewer acres. Would like to find a GOOD used one, know little about them. Do you have to pay for use of satelite when using GPS light bar?? What do the big farmers do with the old ones when they upgrade to newer models, anyone got a good used one for sale? Chris

using a gps antenna and laptop you could use this free program. The gps antenna might could cost more than a used light bar setup. I think a used light bar would be easier to set up.
