a friend of mine got a nice doe here in nj with his musseloader, so I helped him butcher it last night, He was going to throw the ribs away, and they were not shotup at all, he shot the deer in the neck, So I have the ribs here at my house some is cooking in the oven right now braizing in liquid. After they cook I am going to put bar b que sauce on them and cook them a while longer, Has anyone ever cooked venison ribs? I figured its worth a try.

I hope you can find a use for them, we have always found they are more work than they are worth. I usually hand my rib rack in the tree and watch the birds pick them clean over the winter. Those chicadees really love them.

Venison ribs have a lot of fat between them, like all animals. Cut out a section and look at it. 3 different layers of fat. In venison though the fat has most of the "gamey" taste. You'll find them pretty strong.
It's dog food here. They love the st5rips cut off from between the ribs.

We have them done that way every once in a while. If you back them longer at lower temp the fat tends to melt away and there not as bad as people like to say.

Brought the poor thing down with CLAMS, eh?

Kind of unconventional, but WHATEVER works, I guess!

I'm setting here eating a big bowl of Venison Stew, made with vegies and spuds out of last summers garden. Only store bought vegie was celery and spices. Probably be eating it a few more days, as the wiffy hasn't learned to cook small. It's been real nice to have $15-20/wk. grocery bills again.

Be'ins you're cooking them anyhow, give them a try and report back to us. You can still feed them to the dog if you have to.

I always gave them to the dogs. Keeps them out from under your feet.

Never give a dog any bone. Your vet buys a 40,000 dollar truck on the surgeries he does for dogs with bone splinters. Ask him, he'll tell you.
