Have any of you used these to build a basement or the upper house?
Are they as good a R value as they claim?
Would they = the R value of 8inch fiberglass insulated wall?
any info and expereince greatly appreciated.

Thanks

According to them, they can achieve up to R-27. According to some info I have checked the R-value of fiberglass batts is 3.14-4.3 per inch. If I have done the math right 8X3.14=R25.12. Plus you have the added R value of the sheetrock and the value of plywood added to that.

Do you have any experience with the P2000 Foam bead boards in older homes on the btm. side of the rafters to form a radiant barrier & at 1 in. distance from the roof sheeting to form a channel for air to circulate to the ridge vent. They had panels with lip to fasten to rafters on 12-16 & 24 centers I saw a demo at the Ag show today in Gordyville, IL.

I haven't personally built, but have done much research & have friends/acquaintences who have. The claim is that because of the thermal mass, and the fact that the structure can be built extremely "tight" the "R" performance exceeds even their claim. I would believe that to be true... at least out here where the wind blows constantly. It's virtually impossible to get a "stick built" structure "tight" in this country... the wind is relentless and will penetrate virtually anything. I personally know of two guys who built their entire houses of ICF's... not sure that they were logix brand, but ICF's none the less. Both guys couldn't say enough about how quiet and efficient their houses were. And, in my estimation, I think you can build a house with ICF's/solid concrete and not spend significantly more money than "stick built" if you consider ALL the expenses associated with framed structures. JMHO ...D

Befor i built my retirement home 3 years ago I made contless trips to examine basements built with ICF s of diffrent brands. I was impresed with the results of most. The THING I found was it took a learning curv and most people that built just one was not experienced enought to do it right. Saw several that had BLOW OUTS or faults. Too much of a vibrator and you have problems or not enough and you have voids. I settled on a basment by SPURIOR WALLS The system uses concrete poured over styrform. I am quite satisfied with the end results as well as the overall cost vrs other methods. You might google Superior walls. Do you home woork that is the answer. Don,t get in a hurray and dollars count bu some times cheapest is not best overall.
