a lot of people here on this tractor site should consider themselves and there familys very lucky, many of them know where the meat they are eating is coming from. Taco bells beef was found to be 15% beef, the rest is fillers one was c a lled anti dusting agent. What the heck is that? Now when I butcher some chickens and get my grinder working to make my own sausage, maybe some of my friends and family wont laugh at me and say its not worth it!

Larry: If you think about it, do you think that any of the fast food chains have 100% meat in their food? I never thought that they did myself. But somedays they sure taste good! And it's bad for you too! LOL

Nobody has proven anything about Taco Bell's beef. There is a suit that has been filed and Taco bell says is absolutely false. Folks should wait until things are finished before condemning anyone. Taco Bell also list it's ingredients on it's web site.

just got 250* of beef home grown from the sil last sat 1.55 a # plus cutting and wraping dang good tasting meat, will last the two of us a year.

One thing Ive noticed is old grey hamburg hidden in side the fresh meat, dosent matter what store. They all do it.My friend buys an 8 pound bag and freezes it in smaller packages. We used to think that was a good meat shop.He said the inside hamburg was all gray.Hamburg spoils fast.It smells and gets a bad taste fast.

The old saying, believe nothing of what hear, and only half of what you see still applies. Remember the GM trucks that were rigged to burn on collision by the news people. Some of them are real low lifes. Joe

ive always felt that when fast food chains said 100% beef they were being honest, A McDonalds burger does contain 100% beef, but the beef content of the burger only makes up say 30-35% of the actual burger, the rest is soy and filler.

That was the percentage of the entire contents of that one particular thing on the menu wasn't it? A beef burito or something? By the time you mix in the sauces, whatever, you're cutting the meat content pretty thin.
What's the percentage of beef in a home made sloppy joe,or a meal of hamburger helper even if you use your own homegrown beef? I know when the wife makes meatloaf, she cuts it down a lot with other ingredients.
What the deal in that suit was was, state law required that anything listed as "beef" had to be at least 35% beef and that particular menu item wasn't.

The 'fresh' looking meat is red/pink because they put dye in it, not because it's fresh. Burger will get grey in a hurry if not sealed and frozen. The only way to consistently get good beef is to raise your own, or buy from someone you know, and get it frozen when it's butchered.

we are lucky local amish meat shop is really good meat at fair price. Our best bet is raise grass calf to feeding sell and buy cuts we want. Just 2 of us so whole would get old in freezer

Yeah, sensationalism rules the airwaves. So what if taco bell uses soybeans as a binding agent and oats as filler in their meat mixture? It's pretty tasty and probably a lot healthier to boot.

It's like all the lawsuits that went on because of Pringles being called potato chips even though they're loaded with wheat. I still think of them as potato chips.

Taco is suing the accuser for defamation. I'm sure there will be more later but it'll be on the back page. Jim

Yep the fuel tanks outside the frame rails, I have 3 trucks and I never worried about it. I also got a settlement for the one truck, a hundred bucks or something, I think it was back in the 90s., or you got 1000 off a new truck I think it was, anyone else get those options?

Guess that would explain how they can sell them burritos and tacos so cheap. I always see tv ads for .99 cent things from there. I have never ate at a Taco Bell, nothing against them, but I dont like onions, or they dont like me!

I got food poisoning once from eating at McDonalds in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Made it home, but was so wiped out I went to our doctor to get something to perk me up.

The doctor started telling me what all McDonalds puts in there hamburger and I about got sick all over again in his office.

Actually, it must have been the sauce. I had a Big Mac, my brother-in-law had a Quarter Pounder, and his daughter, being a figure- conscious 19 year old, had a plain hamburger. Ed and I got sick and Kimberly didn't, so it must have been the sauce or something common to Big Macs and Quarter Pounders.

Later, I mentioned it to a fellow from Colorado I worked with, and by coincidence he'd eaten at the same McDonalds in Fort Morgan. He said the stuff at that McDonalds did taste different from other McDonalds.

I owned two of them at the time. Like I was going to buy two brand new pickups just to use the $100 vouchers.

I'm sure they had it figured that way.

Worked with an old cook back in the late 60's.

His specialty was rabbit stew.

Once a patron accused him of putting horse meat in his recipe for rabbit stew.

He replied "Yes, about 50-50; one horse and one rabbit".

I eat there about once a year and usually regret it! Its a nice place to hit when youre running late on your way to an auction so you dont have to buy 3 dollar hot dogs all day to keep warm.

10 years as food service inspector, All food products have recommended SELL BY dates not expiration dates. When primal cuts of meat reach sell by date on package, they can be pulled and made into hamburger then put back on the dsplay shelf. That is why primal cuts (Steaks etc) only have to be cooked to 140 deg to kill bacteria and recumbinant meats (hamburger)have to be cooked to 165 deg. I make no statement as to ingredients in product. If you read the label of ingredients, they have to be listed by amount from most to least. i.e. Juice drink lists water first and further down the line is juice or juice from concentrate. The further down the list of ingredients, the less amount in the product. Reading labels can sometimes get scarey.

it is the 15% that is the worry.

Manufactured meat.

Pork meat [85%]water,salt,honey [2%] soy protein, food acid [325] dextrose, maltdextrins ,starch, vegetable gum [407] mineral salts [451, 452] sugar, antioxidant [316] sodium nitrite [250] spice extracts, smoked.

People are STILL throwing out that 15% number???

That's already been proven FALSE. Even the lawsuit alleges 35%.

What does it matter to you guys anyway??? You're FARMERS. Regardless of what goes into Taco Bell's "beef," it all comes from the farm.

Whether it goes in the front, comes out the back, or is carved off the side of the cow, it's all agricultural product that YOU are selling.
