Is the flesh of a sheep or goat light colored like pork or dark like venison? My dog was chewing a bone this AM & it is not dark like deer meat but light like pork. Just wondering which neighbor he was visiting.

A breif aside, I had a problem with a neighbor 1/2 mile down the road, dog killing my chickens. Well the dog got one, brought it back to his house, so him and his buddy thought they would fed the dead chicken to the dog, couple days later the dog up and died, They figure a bone punctured his stomach or something in there. ??

Its dark, like venison or beef. Don't know if meat holds its color when it gets saturated with water, however.

Lamb meat can vary in color depending on how they are fed out, but it is usually from pink to red in color . Sheep can get white muscle desease which can cause the muscle to be soft and light colored but I think it doesn't turn completely white.

Best thing to break a chicken-killing dog is to tie the dead chicken very securely around the dog's neck. Dog will get REAL tired of the dead chicken, and won't bother them again.

all the sheep I butchered in the slaughter house were very simular colored to pork.Especialy if it was a young one not a 6 year old ewe

My main concern would be keeping the dog in my own paddock which I think is the owners' responsibility, if the bone is laced I don't think the colour would be much of a concern.
