Hey, if some of you guys like to polk your nose into books--especially if you are a veteran (Vietnam or otherwise)--you might be interested in my novel, "Cry for the Water Buffalo" ISBN: 978-0-615-31647-5. It can be ordered from any bookstore or is available from Amazon.com in print and Kindle. I'm a farmer and writer, and you can check out the book cover at www.mokilane.com. It has gotten some good press, especially from Joan Sanstadt in Agri-View, a Wisconsin farm paper. It was also recently added to the Library of Congress collection which is, indeed, an honor. For the record, I am also a Vietnam Veteran with two Seabee tours in 1967, '68 and '69 and hope this doesn't offend anyone out there.

God Bless You, we need to hear more
from our pass vet I take my hat off to you will check out your book bless you

Thank you for serving!!! I'll check out your book. Didn't server myself, Nixon canceled the draft 3 days before I was supposed to go.

Lost a few class mates in Vietnam, those were tough times.

Thanks again!

L.

If I could shake your hand I would. Navy E-T 1974 to 1980 and my son is in the Navy right now he is a Sea-Bee building a school in south Africa, Kenya. He will be there till some time in Aug.

Thanks Comrade James
Just wondering why it to be considered "Fiction"
when probably a lot of truths may be in it.
I will check it out though. prelude sounds interesting .

Sorry, I don't do books or movies about wars since I left RVN.

Our children never need to know, our politicians should know, too avoided it ever happening again.

I think it's important for kids to know about past wars. After all they're the next generation and knowing about the past is probably the best deterent against another war. Dave

Thank you for your service, and for lettin us know about your book.
Sorry, but readin much hurts my eyes and gives me a headache.
Tractor Talk is about all I can do.
Different era, cost me alot, but proud to serve.
Wish I coulda done more...yer fellow veteran, Dan

The response is amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Yes, I was in I Corp both tours. Da Nang in '67/8 and Quang Tri in '68/9. Also, I think there are a lot of truths in the book but it is basically historical fiction. Anyone who is interested can also shoot me an email at [email protected] and I will send out a 300 word summary. Basically, we've all been there one way or another and it hasn't gone away! Thanks again for all of the support! Oh, and this is not a blood 'n' guts piece of work. It is based on the notion that families in Vietnam were divided by the sides members chose to serve and the consequences of those decisions. Of course, we (the U.S.) had a BIG hand in those consequences and many of those actions continue to come home to roost.

I know you are probably right, but I have never spoke a word, and feel uncomfortable about my actions as a human being.

I probably have my head screwed on backwards, but it is just such a shame that as a young lad, I did what I did, simply because the big dogs diagree, and sent us lambs to the slaughter house so they could profit from our duties.

My question is who will be held accountable?

Their soilders were there because someone had got in their heads, and told them they were doing the right thing by killing the GI's. Heck, they were fathers, husbands, sons and so on just like we were.

Then come to find out, they can live good lives without our control any way.

I thought I was hot crapola, until I was a body escort for my buddy, and had the opertunity to thank the family, and hand them a flag. I needed that, it has changed my attatude looking the mom in the eyes. And that was just one mom, compared to all the moms on both sides, and again for what?

I really hope you will consider reading this book some time. It touches on most of the issues you have mentioned from both sides--at least I think that is what I have done, hope that is what I have done. A good number of veterans have read it and their feedback suggests the same. We recently had a "Welcome Home" for Vietnam Veterans at Lambeau Field in Green Bay with approximately 50,000 in attendance over the two days. It was something that is still needed--not forgiveness necessarily, but an understanding of the time and place. Good luck to you!

I realy tried to watch a agent orange show once, but it wrecked my mind in a big way, so decided to simply avoid the issue, and lay it to rest.

I know it isn't for everyone, but so far that is where I stand, and I do hope to some day get my head out of my rear end. I do realize other than money, how lucky in life I have had it, and I even feel guilty about that.

Good luck with your book, I will promise to tell others of it.
