My fil took his buzz saw blade to get it sharpened today, and the guy called him back and said the blade has a crack in it? I have a old saw I never fixed up to use so told him he could have the blade off it. I dont know if he wants it yet. Anyway were could he get a new blade for a buzz saw.? I dont know what size it is or what brand. I dident get much info from my wife just now yet.

I havent found out that yet, I am gonna ask him tomarrow and I'll let you know, Thank you. J

My wife just called him and asked him the size. He says 29.5 to 30 inches diameter and a 1 and 3/8s center hole. If you have one let me now and how much you want for it. He said let him know so I guess if you have one hed take it. Thanks J I checked the email box so you can send me a email if you want, I think thats how you do it.

'tis dark and cold out...and they are in a barn with no elec hooked up
i'll check tomorrow when i get home from work (around 4) if that works...
we have 1 attached to a saw that hasn't been used in at least 30 years and one floating...

prob. won't want much for it...as we don't use 'em.

No Steve I dont want you to go out in this cold right now to look, no big hurry, look when you have time, or not so cold! LOL.. thanks J, ps GB is in now we will see how the Jets do.

Depends where the crack is.Usually in the gullet because a sharp corner is left in the gullet.A new 30 inch blade can cost 300 bucks.I sharpen cordwood saws, most are in bad shape from wrong sharpening. If the crack is in the gullet it can be ground out.Hand sharpening is ok for touch up but machine grinding is best.Farm equipment dealers sell a pto driven saw and should be able to supply a new blade.

hey jay
i ran outside
1 blade (not attached to saw) is 26" diameter and has a 1 3/8 diameter
the other one (attached to a ferguson saw) is 29 1/2 or 30" in diameter...i'm guessing the center hole is fairly std...
i spoke with my father and he was looking for $150 for the whole setup...so w/o blade the rest would go for scrap...so figure $100 or so for the blade...seems to be in pretty good shape...
let me know...email should be open
if not

Depends on where the crack is, but we have drilled a hole in blade at the end of the crack. Crack doesnt spread any farther and used the blade for years with no problem.

I have seen sawmill blades and a small engine repaired this way.
With the saw blades they drill the hole at the end of the crack, and test it like you said.

With the small engine a hole was drilled at the end of a crack snd an allen head bolt was in the drilled hole (crack was in the block, no water jacket there)
