6in flexable

When filling my tractor with desiel the 6in flexable from my fuel container fell into the tractor tank.
Cannot see it. Cannot hook it.
I don"t think it will empead full flow but, do you all think it might desolve and cause problems later....thanks...jimmy

how about one of those grabber tools, you push the end of it and grabber jaws open up, Im not good at describing it, but it is a tool that is pretty common , it would be worth a try, I dont think they are real expensive, a napa store should have it

Over the years it might start breaking up. I don't know if diesel will make plastic hard and brittle with time or not.

Had a fuel gauge arm with a cork float on it sloshing around in a gas tank for fifteen years or so and eventually the rubbing and banging against the inside of the tank wore away the varnish on the cork, causing it to get saturated and sink to the bottom. After rubbing on the bottom for awhile it broke up and started plugging the outlet hole. I doubt if your plastic spout will do that but???? Jim

Is the filler neck on one paticular part of the tank, like the back or the front??

Where I'm headed here is if the filler neck is in the rear, park the tractor facing up the biggest hill you can find,, and try to shake it with the loader or whatever,,,, to cause it to vibrate to the rear of the tank under the filler?

If it has a fuel gauge sending unit, remove it and have a look. It would help to know what tractor and model.

The 620 I just restored had one in the tank. I bought the tractor a few years ago and it had to come with it. I had move the tank around the shop several times to get it out of my way. I heard something slide around inside and was able to fish it out. It didn't appear that the gasoline had damaged it any. It looked to have been in there a long time.

We dont know what material it is, we dont know what shape of tank, we dont know what type of sending unit, tank filter, etc. etc. A little info would really make comments more to the point of helping you out.
What brand and model tractor?
What is the 6 inch flexible spout made of?
Tom

We got an old Case 310 at the farm thats had a gas can filler in the tank for years,I can't fish it out so...it isn't a concern.

Do you happen to have a tool called "mechanical fingers"?

Bet NAPA would have one for probably $20?

Darned thng has got me out of a bind many times.

It probably will not be an issue. Those little flexable plastic filler tubes some times are immersed in gasoline let alone diesel for years before being used.Out here people carry plastic fuel cans with them when they go riding in the desert. Never ever heard of the sun causing them any damage except for color fade so they and that filler tube are pretty tough. I don't think it will block the fuel flow on your tractor . a flexible tool with expanding fingers is available at any auto or hardware supply outlet if you want to retrieve it. Next time don't pull on that filler tube so hard..

Thanks guys! lots of good info. I think I feel better. this is a new tractor to me and was first time fueling.
the tractor is a kubots L-4200 the fuel tank is L shape with most of it under the couling, hard to get anything into there.
