Check today and seams like the price of iron has come up. I was quoted 240.00 ton for prepaired iron. How does that compare to your area? Stan

copper was $3.20/lb
and scrap iron was $220/ton
upstate new york yesterday...i forget what alum. and brass were...have to check the receipt.

Hey Steve, do you take your scrap to the port of Albany? I know there are a few placeses down there to take scrap. Iv got a pile that I keep putting off taking. Just ran into Barrys brother Kevin last knight, I guess Highcliff is into Barry for alot of $$$ for hay! I hope you get paid for your dealings with them/him. They owe me for the lawn too!

Hey Jay
we go to T.A. Predel in schenectady - just off of Erie Blvd.
easy trip from here...instead of all the way to the port
and i have always found them to be fair and not treat you like an idiot...lots of rules but they have no problem explaining them to you and taking their time going through what you have...
elec. motors pay well, cast is usually pretty good too...copper is great right now...if you've got stuff piled up and time...great time to sell
but make sure you sort what you have before you get there and you can not take anything apart there.

didn't know that about highcliff...barry always stays caught up with us, give or take, we understand that he is depending on them...hopefully they will get square with him...i have heard talk, not from barry, that you have to fight tooth and nail with them to get paid...we sold them (highcliff) some 16ft. 1X6's for fencing and they paid on-time...
who knows
tough time to do anything dealing w/ money

gearing up to try to stay warm this weekend...not lookin fwd. to it...

Monday in SE Lower Michigan, I took in 2 loads of "shred" (mixed tin, etc) I got $280/ton.. They are paying $280 flat across the board, except for "auto cast" which was 280-320, and "heavy melt" was 250-300

Copper 2.50-3.00 Depending on size/grade
Alum 0.55-0.70 Depending on "type"

These prices are from a smaller local yard, but are comparable to the larger yards within 50 miles.. and was about the best price I could find after calling the 5 closest yards to me. One yard was paying 285, but is 10 miles farther, and in a larger town, so run a bigger risk of being stopped by police.

I've scrapped out a 750 and 760 Massey combine.. Have a A2 and K Gleaner going next, then, if prices rise above $300, My 510 Massey will go.

Yes I know about TA Predels, but my friends say you get almost twice as much for scrap at the port?? Dunno I guess you have to figure in fuel cost too!

twice as much would be something to think about...
most of our scrapping is to eliminate years of accumulated junk...had 25 lbs. of alum pots and pans...
at twice as much though it'd be worth the ride...
predel is just very convenient as my dad commutes between my house here and his in altamont frequently...

Thats why I was asking you were you go. I never went to the port, always went to predals, then Im hearing they pay more down in Albany?? Dunno, stay warm, gonna be the coldest we have seen in awhile, -15 for Sunday nite. Good reason to watch the Jets game after chores!!

I was told it's now $240 for prepared here in NW Iowa. A month ago it was $200 for prepared and $160 for unprepared.

Not sure where you are checking , but in Jackson,Mi. the price of #1 copper at Omni Source was $3.45 a lb.earlier this week. When the price of gas goes up so does scrap prices.

looking at prices from everyone else...it seems like predel is above the avg. on copper...but a little low on scrap iron...i'll check receipt today for brass and alum.

should be a good weekend for football...
saw my first NFL game in early dec. - saw the jets - dolphins debacle...new stadium is nice though...seats were great...just bad football (good punting)...football season ended in the pre-season for me (bills fan)...there's always next year...
jets 17-16 over steelers
bears 31-24 over packers.

Rough iron like old baylers and farm machines with tires and wheels still on bring $ 275.00 a ton and copper like wire and radiators $ 4.00 lb in middle Tenn. This week.

I got @ $290 ton for short iron in Syracuse, NY last month. Light iron I know was $267 ton. That was a load of appliances. Is the price dropping then?

haven't heard anything...i am in town of florida...where are you supergrumpy?

can't be the buddhists opening it...heard they are pulling out and selling all 50ish properties

it was a terrible season...

good draft pick though...
i am convinced they are going to draft yet another running back or maybe an undersized defensive back...

in reality...u think they're gonna draft a quarterback...go w/ fitzpatrick or maybe bring back trent edwards??? HA

I'm getting $200 ton for anything metal I drag in from choppers, mower, trucks cars and the fellow that owns the yard lets me pick parts off anything there for free.
