It is hard to believe that Dolly Parton is sixty-five years old today. I love her voice and her ability to make good wholesome music. I am not a big music person but her song "Coat of many colors" is my all time favorite. It makes me remember my Mother and Grand Mother fixing our cloths so we would be warm/safe. Another of my favorites is her duet with Brad Paisley: When I Get Where I"m Going. Close your eyes and let your mind picture the spiritual side of yourself while you listen to it. You have to believe in a higher power then.

I just wanted to point out one of the fine people that make this country special.

In the mid 60s I went to my then girlfriends home in Knoxville TN. We were in LA at the time. Her family was having a party(don't remember why)and she told me that her cousin was going to be there and that she would sing for us. My girlfriend said that her cousin was an up and coming country singer and that she was so good that everyone thought that she would make big.I asked her what her name was. She said Dolly Parton. My responce, "I have never heard of her."

I would hardly know her singing if I heard it, but I do know her voice and acting skills.

The movie 9 to 5 always has me laughing heartily. The one where she plays an advice provider on a radio show is a good one too.

Posters further down mention Dolly's rack and were wondering if her bust and age are equal...welp, I have a theory, since she probably didn't develop bust until she was thirteen..well them jugs are only 52 and shes 65.

as they get older, so do you but you don"t lose the appreciation.

Downtown tonight, I saw an old friend, someone who
I used to take comfort from long before I met you.
I caught a spark from his eyes. a forgotten desire.
With the word or a touch
I could have rekindled that fire.

She sings it well.

She and her company owns and operates "Dixie Stampede" in Branson, Pidgeon Forge and Myrtle Beach. As of Dec. 31, the one in Myrtle Beach closed and is being remodeled and opened as a pirate-themed operation. Still owned by Dolly. We'll see how that goes. Pirates? Dunno about that. Like her music, tho.

Many-many years ago I drank many cups of coffee with her. Don't know what shes like now,I suspect shes just the same, then the lady was just plain old Dolly. Joked around, never look at me type. Well yes we did!!!!!!!! Her hair was rather short. Always wigs when on tv with Porter. She will always be just a good ol country girl as far as I am concerned.I guess she as well as I have changed so much as she called me slim in those days. Our fronts are both bigger now, however mine is gut and hers is higher up.

Watched her on the Wagoner show in the 60's and see it on cable at times this year. Smart lady.

(quoted from post at 08:48:43 01/20/11) Ya,,And id still bang her if i had the chance.....

You guys are just old and ...................

As far as looks, she was/is just a dried up ole cleaning lady next to Emmylou Harris...........

Yeah, like Roy Schnieder (sp) said about Ann Margret in the movie "Carnal Knowledge", "She's got a few miles on her but she can still cook". That's Dolly...."a real trooper".
