Guess I lucked out when I found my little tractor for 800 bucks (8 years ago). Same one now is 2500 up. . As I said before, more HP would be nice but want something I can work on, reasonable availability/price of parts, etc....
To get that, looks like something mid 70's and older (or a belarus ).
Folks here are awefully proud of older stuff lately.
Thought I had a couple leads on a couple deutz and a belarus for a decent price that turned out to be flops. Anyway, went onto a DDR (former communist east germany) farm machinery forum and asked a few?'s about belarus and a couple others. Got a couple tips on which belarus was good and which to stay away from. One guy offered a65 deutz 5005 with loader. Looked it up and it was perfect size wise (same width and a foot longer than mine) with 50 HP. Sent me an email with pics and details and a 6000 euro ($7900) price. Nice little tractor, but I just can't justify that much money. Most reasonable options if I can find them are the 36HP 4cyl versions of what I already have but between 3 and 4k euro ($3900-5200) Anything cheaper is pretty much junk. Really starting to question my need for more HP. Gonna put the front loader back on mine and try it another season. I've already bought my hay equipment to match it so it will probably be OK. Just gotta quit shopping.......
Done venting now.
