Hydraulic Troubles

So,

I see that one of the main lift cylinders is leakin' oil on my loader.

Simple job, but I sure do hate doin' it! (probably 'cause that seal is gonna cost an arm and a leg). :>(

It's bad enough that it's spottin' the side of the tractor.

Oh, and they don't give that darned trans/hydraulic oil away any more. Learned that the last time when the other side let loose a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I'm a cheap-wad. :>)

How come the seal's so pricey for it? I took both cylinders off my Freeman to a local rebuilder and had them resealed. Cost me $20 each, parts and labor.

Hey Allen, rub those few drops of oil around, makes thepaint shine like a mirror!(lemons into lemonade!)

Very simple stop using it and it will not leak LOL. Or maybe you move bales of hay that are to heavy for the loader LOL. Now that is said the last cylinder I got rebuilt by a shop only cost about $30 to have done but it was a small one. The bigger ones around here or should I say when I had one done last was less then $100 but that shop closed down a couple years ago

allen,
you are going to have to start charging .. to listen to your music .. little by little you will get enough to buy that seal .. lol

Naturally, accoding to Murphy"s Law, this will only happen when you really need to use the machine! It looks like it"s just an afternoon job so get the parts and get after it! Of course, once you open it up you"ll find that some major unavailable part id required that costs more than the tractor. Hope I"m not spoilin" yer day!

When you park the tractor and let the loader down, don't leave it in float or the leak in that upside down cylinder will keep syphoning oil out of the tractor. Jim (Experienced Dual-Al loader owner)

Baum Iron has packings and seals pretty cheap. That is where I get all my cylinder repair stuff, local Napa has the Baum catalog.

Those Dual loader cylinders must be more expensive. I recently redid two on my loader myself because the guy told me labor was higher than the import loaders would cost new. Parts not too bad, they were tie rod cylinders so repair wasn't complicated.

Geez NC that's a load! We had a customer doing that with a D15 Allis and it looked like a giant Q-tip until it ripped the whole 3 point hitch off when he crossed the creek one day.
