Weres all the snow in Northern Michigan???

Its been a crazy winter this year and last also. I live about 8 miles south of Mackinaw Bridge and we usally get hit HARD with lake effect snow. My area usally averages about 90-110 inches total for the winter, last year had 40" total and about 30" of it was in Dec. This year had 1 storm in Dec. and got about 12-16" and 1 dusting in Jan of 1-3". Every storm seems to go just south/ below my area. Only had to snowplow once this year. I like snowplowing with my truck, farmalls and lawn tractors but aint gettin any time to play. Send some snow my way!!!!

Wind's just not out of the right direction is it? Gaylord,Grayling and Kalkaska have quite a lot don't they? The boys were up there snowmobiling before the thaw and said there was a lot anyway.

Not much down here either. (South of Grand Rapids). The Lakeshore counties have been hit hard with Lake effect this year. We have about 4-5 inches on the ground right now. Somehow I think we are gonna get hit hard before all is said and done.

Same over here east of GR. I'd guess not more than 2-3 on the ground. Hay stubble is still sticking through in the fields. I hauled 6 loads of round bales out of the fencerows yesterday with the truck and trailer. Usually by now I'm bucking drifts and hauling with the big tractor.
They're saying we could get 6-8 before the weekend is over though. Hope not. Just enough to make it look good out there now without being a problem.

Got a little over a foot on the ground in Hawks (Bismarck Township). Not far from the Mac Bridge and close to Rogers City. Same time last year it was a foot and a half. My wife's parents in Alpena have about the same.

Here in central NY, it's also around the same. We've had two snowstorms - each dropping a foot, a lot of light lake-effect in-between, and around a foot on the ground right now.

Mayby you get more when closer to the Bridge? I've been to Hawks and Alpena every winter, and both usually have less then what we get here in NY.

Can't say I've ever been by the bridge in the Winter. My wife used to work on Mackinac Island, but summers only.

We also go to Paradise in the eastern UP. That place usually has a lot of snow, but not right now.

Small world....my wifes parents and much of her family are in Alpena as well. Make several trips out there a year.

It moved south. I lived in Michigan for 25 years all totalled. Moved to Kentucky when I retired.

December here was 8 degrees below normal and 12 inches of snow. Normal winter here is 15 inches of snow total. We have had 8 more inches of snow since the 1st of the year. Hasn't been much above freezing here for a month, normal is 45F to 50F days and 25F to 30F nights.

Couple inches of snow here stops everything.
A foot of snow in Michigan was a dusting.

This global warming is freezing me out down here.

We have had very little snow this year. About 6" on the ground and it's all in the past few days. It has been cold here in North Eastern Penna. Without snow, very hard on the grapes and curants. The good fokes to our north and south seem to get all the snow. Luck to all Ed

We have about 4-5" here in Branch County(So. Mich.) but a lot of it has been west and south of us. South Bend, IN set a record for most snow in 24 hours @ about 30" earlier this week. Just fine with me, enough to look good, not enough to mess with wood cutting. Been watching the pheasants working over some uncut soybeans near the house the last couple of days.

Whenever I go up 75 in the winter always seems like a big snow belt around Gaylord and then seems that it tapers off near the bridge. A few mile north of the bridge towards the Soo and it seems like it really picks up again.

We're headed to the Gaylord/Mancelona area sledding either tomorrow night or Saturday morning.. It'll be a short trip, since I'll have classes Monday night, but we're hoping there's a bit of snow. We were up between Christmas and New Year (before the thaw) and there really wasn't much for riding..

I feel bad for the folks up there that depend on the snowmobilers to come spend money at their establishments to keep the doors open.. 2010 and so far in 2011 there just hasn't been any snow to really speak of.. Also, the guys up there that plow and snowblow.

I do wish ya'll'd get some decent snowfall up there.. Every "long trip" we make north we plan to ride from Gaylord up to the bridge and back.. and every time we start the trip, we run out of snow before we get to the bridge.

Gotta come farther north..... We have had 90 or so inches so far with like 20-30 on the ground in most places here in the Western UP in the lake effect snow bands.
