pay close attention to her meds my pain pills made me sick to the point i couldn"t do anything.
i had new knee in april it took until august until i got going again.
it is good now took longer than it was supposed to.
i wasn"t able to do much all summer

My wife has had three ops on the knees in last 14 years. Now she needs total replacement on one. After the last one she caught a kick by a bolting horse(her baby?)I wanted too shoot the damn thing,on the inside calf of latter leg. This is one of the reasons were sellin the farm.Theres nobody to help her recovery,no family or friends in the area that can help, as I work 50 mi. one way to work(shift work also). Both her brothers had knee replacement this past year and it was a nightmare for both.I have heard stories of miracles about knee replacements, but after seeing what her brothers went through shes really scared.

Good Luck

Stan

I was wondering about her. Tell her to keep her chin up and encourage her to keep it moving and stretching. Remind her to keep doing the quad sets and get those muscles to firing again, and as I said the other day use the pain meds so that she can accomplish the exercises, but talk to the Dr. about getting off them if shes on them over a month or so. Good luck to her and you. I go in for mine in less than two weeks on the 24th. LarryT

Exactly..... Wife didn't have a replacement but had some cartilage removed. 3 rehab clinics within 5 miles of the house, all 100% paid by insurance, just have to make an appointment and show up. Took her myself for 3 weeks til she could drive again and she decided she didn't have time to go anymore cause she'd have to go after work when she had other things to do. Almost a year later and it still bothers her with certain moves.

Guy in town had a complete replacement in Sept/Oct and says he's better than he had ever been. He started walking the first week and kept at it along with the exercises he was told to do.

You can usually find retired CNA women who can help or some one close by who can help her. There must be a woman who could use the income. Some insurance will pay for in home care.I was born at home, cost 18.00 for the Doctor and a woman who spent 3 days looking after my mother.

Did the doctor take care of his own horse or did your dad do it?

Sorry..had to...

I think doing the exercises are the key. My mother had a knee replaced when she was 89 and did great. But, if the doctor or therapists told her to do something ten times a day, she did it twenty.

I am still healing up from my knee surgery on Dec 14th of last year. Went back to work on MondaY. I found that due to disuse, my right quad muscle was significantly smaller than the left. I have been using the elliptical trainer to keep active and discovered that if spun backward, really works the quad.
