I have a c153 combine engine, the cam has been removed. I was told it take the same cam as the A B or c farmall. Does anyone know if that is true?

I would think the cam from an A or B would work but probably wouldn't be the best. I imagine that it was originally a slightly different shape, for that matter one from any C-113, C-123, or C-135 should fit and function unless I'm mistaken. Sam

All I can tell you is the C113,123,135 146, and 153 shared the same cam gear. C153 in 504 runs at high RPM about twice of Farmall A.

If I remember correctly from back in the early sixtys, the cams on the all the A and C family of engines are the same but some models used forged steel gears, some used cast gears. That includes the C153 engines. That was part of my job for awhile at IH, pressing on cam gears.

My 1973 NAPA engine parts catalog lists the
C153 engine as used in, 504, 2504, wheel tractors
and 93, 203, combines, and 2500 loaders.
Just paging through the catalog..many of the 4
cylinder engines use the same parts, such as
gasket kits, and water pumps, but have different
bore and stroke. theres no mention of camshafts.

WHO needs the NAPA catalog when you can access the OEM's parts catalog on-line with the link I provided for him???

If stuck with a used cam. It's cheap enough to send it to Berry's Cams and have the followers trued up.
Odd how so many people want perfectly true and round cylinders. Yet they barely look at the cam and throw used lifters back on in any order.
You can "look" at a cam but how do you measure lift in thous and duration in degrees?
