Oliver tractors

I talked to my father in law today and asked him about his Oliver tractors. I guess his dad bought a new Oliver 70 nf gasser after the war, then he bought a nf Oliver 770 with a Hydraulic drawbar, what ever that is? Anyone own a 770, or have any pics of a one?

The 770 was one of their better selling models. They were still building them after the 1000 series came out. If you're getting into Oliver, Oliver Heritage and HPOCA (Hart-Parr Oliver Collectors Association) are the best 2 magazines I know of. Oliver Heritage can usually be found on the magazine/book rack at TSC.

I've got a 70,but not a 770. I have the successor to the 770,a 1550 and the predecessor,the 77.

I forgot to say my father in law is 80, and saw electricty come up to there farm. He usta farm with horses as a young boy, than they got the Oliver tractors. No half million dollar equipment. He milked cows by hand, and shipped milk in cans. Anyway, he dosent have the Olivers anymore. So I thought if anyone did they could post a pic.

Type Oliver 770 in the search box in the tractor photo section on the left side of this page. You should find several there as they are a popular tractor. Many are still in use today.

Hi Jay, I have owned an Oliver 770 since 1995, its a good tractor has a 50HP 6 cylinder gas engine, one of the smoothest running tractor engine around, the hyd on the Oliver's are not the most robust, mine starts great in the cold but is a cold blooded engine needs choke to be on a bit till it warms up, but overall a good tractor.

The hydraulic hitch on the 770 he was probably talking about wasn"t the three point. The 770s had an option on the center hitch that would you move the hitch from side to side to allow for being off center when you backed up to hitch to a piece of equipment.

the 770's had 2 different 3-point hitches. one was called the hydra-hitch and the other was called the power-traction hitch.
