Waste Oil Burner air pressure

Would I get more BTU's with the air presure turned up a few psi or lower the psi a few. I adjust flame to get a good ball type shape but have a few psi either way on the air side and wonder which will give more BTU's.
Thanks

If your burner uses a "syphon-feed" air atomizing nozzle" much like a nipco space heater more air pressure SHOULD increase fuel pickup as well as affect flame pattern, but PROBABLY not as much as increasing the oil pressure from the lift pump if it has a lift pump that lifts the used oil up to the burner at low pressure.

Can you vary the oil pressure of that system?.

Don,t know about all but if it is a CLEAN BURN model heater to get more heat you need to raise the oil preasure or put a larger orfice in the burner but neither of which I would reccomend.
Those heater come from the factory prety well maxed out. Your burn air preasure will just let the unit burn cleaner. It might help the heat just a little but takes everything just right or ballanced. When we get down in the teens for outside temp we usually add about 10 gal diesel per 100 gal of used oil and then things operate better and seem to put out more heat. I am sure it is just because we are putting more fuel thru the unit. Have tried mowt brands and have 3 CLEAN BURN units and think they are the most trouble free on the market.

On my waste oil burner the air pressure changes the atomization of the oil but changes in pressure have little affect on how much fuel is burned. A couple PSI ether way does not make much difference. A change of oil pressure as little as 1/4 PSI will have a noticeable difference in the size of the flame.
