Silent Night Played on the pedal steel for all you pickers

I did drive a lot of trucks with twin sticks in them, been double clutchin for many years.

Now that instrument takes it all! I couldn't imagine getting my knees and feet used to the idea they were to make music along with my picken fingers.

Most guys that master that can really make em talk.

Thanks for the music link

Until I found him on youtube I did not realize how much was involved in playing the pedal steel. I like his playing of Tennesee Rose and Angles. I put my head phones on and fall asleep, LOL

Rollie. Thanks. 1st time I listened to Steel guitar as a single enity. His bub over is spectacular. Gives him Lots of room to play color. What a sweet sound. I"ll try And remember him. Thanks again REguards LOU.
MErry Christmas & Happy New Year.

It's really nice to get away from the total bombardment of "canned " Christmas music that the local Radio stations blast at us from TG day until the big C day. This forum has been great. Many thanks to you all. Merry Christmas to you all. May you all prosper and enjoy, but take note to realize where you are and what you have today, and then do what you can to get your offspring to where you are, at their same point in life. The Acg.

Thanks, that's great to hear. I hope someday to learn to play some
sort of steel guitar, but I haven't tried yet. My personal favorite
steel songs I ever heard were Buddy Emmons playing Shenandoah
and The Waltz You Saved For Me on Prairie Home Companion a year
or two ago. I found him on youtube playing Shenandoah. I love the
slow tempo.

That was nice.

Even nicer is "Highway 40 Blues" (scroll down the right side). Silent Night is fine, but I like a little more "topspin" to my music.

Rollie, I started a thread down a ways about liking music on here as a little diversion. Glad to hear you like pedal steel guitar. I've owned one since 1976 and still only play it a bit sloppy. I have listened to many of David Hartley's YouTube songs and indeed he is a great player. Another I really like is Jeff Colson (Rockford, Illinois area). I am thinking about trying a video of myself to post on YouTube. As John T said in an earlier post, at my age (73), being embarassed by some less than perfect playing doesn't bother me. Am I correct to assume you play the pedal steel too?

other pedal instruments:
pipe organ
pedal harpsichord

they'd call me lurch if i wasn't so short!

Very nice, Rollie. Had a bar band here in NY a few years back that had a pedal steel player who used to do session work in Nashville for lots of big-name singer. He could make that thing stand up and dance--a one-man band all by himself, and the rest were happy to give him lots of "solo time"!

I tried to post a video from my digital camera, but this site doesn't like that!! After it finished the upload, it gave an error message that it wanted a jpg file. So I'll have to research how to if possible post a video here.

Maybe this site won't allow videos??
