PX has a been carrying craftsman for several years now and another brand called All Trade Pro for less than half the price of craftsman. thought to treat myself to a new craftsman set. Wanna know where every craftsman tool was made??????????

I assume the All-Trade stuff doesn't say Craftsman on it, correct?

Craftsman tools are made by Dannahar (check my spelling) - same company that makes Matco, Armtstong, Easco, Proto, NAPA, KD, Allen Wrench, etc.

Now, John Deere Co. IS putting their name on chinese wrenches.

Yes and if ya check they have a "limited life time warranty" and will be replaced by the other brand. don't even have to be a referb so you don't abuse them. seen it happen over here and they swear replacement off brand is just as good GRRRRrrrrrr!!

If I'm putting 2 and 2 together correctly, I'd say Dave is trying to tell us the Craftsman stuff was made in China.

There was a craftsman dogbone wrench that looked like something to stick on the tractor. It said made in china. started looking and every craftsman tool package said china on it. The others were china also but not priced like something special.

Dave

I needed some of those dogbone wrenches for a certain job. I had to remove an exhaust manifold from a V8 diesel with half-rotted out metic bolt heads. I needed a 6 point metric socket to fit in a very tight place.

Sears had the dogbone wrench in metric for $20. Tractor Supply had exactly the same for $10. Needless to say, I bought a bunch from Tractor Supply. Ended up being very rugged wrenches.

Craftsman has their Evolv line of cheaper tools. Those labeled Craftsman here in the States seem to still be USA made. For now.

As Sears and Kmart are in financial trouble, I'm sure things will go downhill, no where else to go.

For the time being, Sears has pretty good tools that are available to get, avaialable to have replaced, don't need to track down a truck 'somewhere' or mail off to 'somewhere' and hope you get some service.

That makes them a pretty good deal for a pretty good product.

The trick with Sears is to wait 6months, and what you want will likely turn up on 50% off sale, and then it is a good value for what you get & the warrenty provided.

Those who use tools 10 hours a day 6 days a week might have a different and worthwhile opinion for their needs. The rest of us really can't afford $100 a piece wrenches from a tool truck that doesn't stop on my road.... :)

The cheap China junk from names ya don't know and aren't very strong or machined well are a great buy to stuff intot he tractor toolboxes, and rattle along to rust or fall out but have something along you need to use 20 times a year.

I just bought a 300piece tool set about 3 months ago. All of the tools said made in usa. I did see some other lower dollar stuff that had craftsman on it that was made in china. Seemd a;ot of the china ones all had green handles on the them. Ive always used craftsman at home and on my service truck at the farm. Looked at kobalt tools also but they didnt offer a tool set that had everything I was lookin for. I really think next time I buy tools tho they will be either allen tools or kobalt. Last time I took a broken ratchet and some broken screw drivers back to sears they were reluctant to replace them. If they had pulled that before I bought my new set I wouldnt have even cosidered craftsman at all.

Now, John Deere Co. IS putting their name on chinese wrenches.... Ya and chinese work boots. lol

I'v about stopped using sears tools. I'v been buying some wrenches from Tractor Supply. 1 and 1/4 wrench is about 9-10 bucks. A lot cheaper then sears. I started using them for work because if you lost them it wasn't that big of a lost. I like the way they feel and I haven't had any trouble yet. I'v heard about the hassel people have been getting returning broken tools. That's why I stopped using them.

Our Sears store in Fairfield Il. Never questions the warranty, If they don't have the item they will ship
it to your house.

What ever happened to timkin bearings? are they still around? I know, Napa, car quest, everybody has chink bearings nowadays.

Those dip$hits were poisening there own babys with the milamene or how ever its spelled in the milk formula. They dont care, after all they would fly planes into ships, buildings ect.!!

I don't know what the hype is all about.
As far as i'm concerned, pretty near every tool is made in china these day's,including Snap-on.
Most are not bad at all,i got craftsman, westward and brico among others. All carry lifetime waranty, and all stood up well.
I bought a extra couple sets of westward combo wrences yesterday $59 a set,to leave in my tractor toolboxes.

Uh...Jay...most Chinese aren't nnalert. It was the JAPANESE, not the CHINESE, who did the kamikaze thing in WWII. It was Arab nnalert who flew the planes into the WTC towers, not Chinese.

Yeah, the Chinese were responsible for the melamine poisonings, but I don't know where you got the idea they were behind the other things you mentioned.

Now the purist rolled hard on my stuff, but was wondering about items such as motorcycles. when the Purist had Harley Davidson cycles, they looked down upon those who rode "RICE BURNERS" and Now, Guess who owns HD? Well guys, try and keep stuff running that has bearings, when all we can get is china made. It's either use em or loose the item. Down to the wire,on U.S.made stuff. Soon it will be gone BWO poof masters. It isn't going to get any better ,so suck it up and put it back together using (CHINK STUFF)as described here. Griping isn't going to cut it any way.
LOU.

Seems that the only place to get good American tools anymore is at swap meets or yard sales. To get good American tools, you gotta buy old. Just picked up a pile of American made "C" clamps for $20.00 at a yard sale.

Wife does all the export for the company that makes the rubber/plastic parts of Sachs suspension parts and SFK bearings and seals (rest is produced a couple blocks away). She ships her stuff to china and they ship the rest to china for assembly. China sends finished product back to Sachs/SKF for distribution.

My quad is a chinese label (Jainshe) but all parts are yamaha from a couple years before.

My mistake, yes it was Japan, not the chinese. But there doing damage with lead in toys, and other toxins.

When Kmart first took over Sears their idea was a refurbished old wrench was a replacement for your busted one. They kept a roll away tool box by the register with these tools in it. I told them new will be fine.

Back before the 1950's and '60's US manufacturers put lead-based paints on toys...does that make THEM evil? And prior to the latex-based paints, most indoor house paint MADE IN THE USA was also lead-based. Were the US paint manufacturers evil, too?

Since the REAL idea about so-called "free trade agreements" was actually to break the unions, thank the folks that YOU voted for, who voted for these "free trade agreements" [which actually mean, "America buys your junk while you buy nothing from us"]. Ross Perot told us where those agreements would lead...and BOTH political parties labeled him "loonier than a bedbug." [Lyndon LaRouche was saying essentially the same thing in 1980, and he was called "crazy" as well. LaRouche also warned us about ag conglomerates like ADM driving out the small farmer...and the "experts" all said THAT would NEVER happen, either. But I think LaRouche might have been just a TAD off kilter...thinking he could take on the "establishment" and actually WIN.]

There ARE consequences to actions...KNOW who--and what--you're voting for.
